Well...I was cruising home from work doing about 55-60 thru Downtown Dallas in the middle lane. And, suddenly the traffic in front of me slammed on thier brakes everywhere. I slammed on my brakes also...there were 5-7 cars length behind me.... but this White Battle-lac Escalade 1999 wasn't stopping. So...I start to pump my brakes and flash him to STOP!!!! But, he didn't slammed on his brakes until he was about 1 car length left. By then it was tooooo late.....he clip my driver bumper and ground effect with his passenger bumper!
The hits felt bad and sound bad...but when I pulled over to check it out it wasn't as bad...my bumper got push in a little and lot of paint mark from his White Battle-Lac Escalade.
I got his insurance and driver license info...call his ALL-State insurance and also my Progessive Ins just in case. I didn't call the Po-Po...figured it is just a minor fender bender accident..it would probably take them 5 hours to get there even we are in the middle of downtown Dallas. I think I got a little Whip-lash...I am not sure...I will probably feel it in the morning.
I am OK for now. I have a little wierd feeling in the neck area thou. I have an appointment with his ALL-STATE next week on Tuesday. They gonna take a look at it with their Drive-In Appointment thing.
Does anyone know how much a new painted bumper cost for our Trix? Thanks guy!

I am glad to hear that you are OK, the insurance company will fix your car and you defiantly want to get yourself checked out at your physician just to be on the safe side.
Also, it might be a good idea to make a police report and you can do this over the phone, non-emergency police # for minor accidents is 214-744-4444. They will ask for your and the other parties personal information and all that good stuff. It is a good idea to take pics of the location also. Some insurance companies require police reports.
I hope everything works out OK for you, If I can be of any help just let me know. I deal with this stuff on daily bases.

Hey Thanks Damir! I might just do that!

That really sucks guy!! Glad to hear that you are doing OK though!! I second what Damir said........it is a really good idea in case something else needs to be done later on down the line.
Glad you're okay, Kong. I had my bumper hit about a month ago and the estimate was for about 650 dollars. The bumper and ground effects on the back have to be removed seperately, the clips and foam padding replaced, repinted, buffed, etc. The majority of the money will be for labor. They said 2-3 days completion time for me. The main thing is to make sure you file a claim against the other drivers insurance so that you don't have to pay the deductable. Their rate shouldn't jump if the damage is under 1000. Let us know what happens. Also, make sure you get receipts if you go to the doctor for whiplash. They are required to cover that as well.
Exactly.
Basically, you've got two claims working here...one
for your property damage, which you should settle
pretty quickly if the other driver doesn't dispute
what happened and you get your estimates pretty
quick. The second claim is for your personal damage.
If you felt pain at the scene of the wreck, it
would've been a good idea to get popo out their
to take a report. But, whip lash sometimes takes
24 hrs. to manifest. In any event, make sure you let
that dudes insurance adjuster know that you've got
pain and that you're seeking medical attention for it.
The adjuster will settle that claim as soon
as your treatment resolves and all of your medical
specials are submitted to the insurance co.
Remember, the balls in your court Kong...don't let
his insurance company try to "muscle" you into
settlement early.
I called his ALL-STATE claim and My Progressive Ins. on Saturday evening. I logged my accident to both insurances company.
My Progressive claim agent came to my house today around 3:30pm to take pictures and asked some more questions. She said she will let me know how much it would probably cost to get it fixed,,,if ALL-State decided to play hardball....my ins. said they will get it fixed for me. I have an appointment with ALL-State Drive In claim office on Tuesday at 3:30pm.
Well....so far my neck is feeling normal? maybe...it has been at least 24 hrs....so I think I still got all of my screw intact up there.
I tried to call 214-744-4444, but I have to be at the accident for the Po-Po to write it up. I have to go to my nearest Po-Po station to file the report that. Oh well,,, I might have to go to the Po-Po near Downtown which is the main station for the Dallas Po-Po...ironically..that accident happen about 4-6 bloacks away from the Dallas Po-Po in Downtown Dallas. Later!
I will try to take some pictures tomorrow...it is not bad at all. I just want it fixed.... back like the way it was. Later guy!

Go to the doctor anyway. Like it was said, the ball is in your court. Get checked out anyway while it's on someone else's dime. Whiplash is tricky. You could have problems weeks from now that can be attributed to the accident. Like once it gets colder outside and your muscles start cramping up...as an example. I had a wreck when i was 17, where the girl i hit waited 3 months and then turned around and had to sue my insurer to get her medical bills paid, because she waited so long to go to a doctor. I'm assuming she paid court costs, etc. just to have them cover her bills. Go now. Tell your dr. you had a small wreck and that you'd like an xray just to be safe. He'll do it because it's a guaranteed payment. Nothing for him to loose anyway. Mr. Risk Management care to chime in???

Hmmm...OK...I will tell the ALL-State agent tomorrow...that I will be seeking an accident injury doctor..... tomorrow, when I go in to get my Matrix look at.
I got 4 questions?
Do I have to pay the doctor fee when I go see a doctor or do they call ALL-State for the money? OR do I have to fork out the money for the doctor visit and get it reimburse from ALL-State? Can ya'll recommend me to a good doctor that can check me out for injuries due to accident related? Y'all think KClinic will work? Thanks!
Thanks again Manda and everyone too!

Call Allstate in the morning and ask them how to do it. Usually you can give the doctor your claim number and they will pursue payment from the insurer. You may need to verify this or call the doctors office and ask them. I've never had the need to see a dr following a wreck thank goodness. The dr.'s office should be able to tell you for sure how they want to handle it.
I would not go to K-clinic; I've heard it’s a rip of. I personally have never been involved in an accident so I could not recommend any of such clinics.
Also, for that police report, you should not have to go to police station to make the report; they should be able to take it over the phone, unless they changed it. But I would call that # again and request a report to be taken and try to talk to a different officer and see what they say.
I’ll also double check this for you tomorrow at work and I'll let you know.

Kong,
The easiest thing to do would be to call your primary care physician
and explain what happened. If he doesn't want to treat you because
of the insurance hassles typically assoiciated with a car wreck, perhaps
he can recommend a colleague who will...
The way it works is once you find a physician, you'll get diagnosed,
then treatment begins. During treatment you'll be billed until
treatment resolves. Because most Docs demand payment up front,
you'll have to go ahead and pay for your treatments/medications yourself,
OR submit the bills to your personal health insurance and have them subrogate with All State once treatment ends.
If you decide to pay up front first, when you're 100% healed go ahead and submit your bills to his insurance company for reimbursement. If you're
unsure how to proceed, ask his insurance adjuster how All State wants to handle it. Before you settle the claim, don't forget to throw in a little pain and suffering for a little extra $$...
Places like K-Clinic, Accident And Injury Clinic, and others that
advertise on TV and magazines are not highly regarded in the
insurance industry. I think you'd do better elsewhere...that's all
I'm going to say about that.
The best source of advice through this whole process would be your insurance adjuster. He's going to be looking out for your
best interests through out this whole process. Since it was'nt your
fault, and the other guy is well insured, you should come out pretty
good. Good luck and keep us posted...

I went to the ALL-State Ins. claims adjuster office today at 3:30PM on 4070 N. Beltline. I sat around for about 20 minutes waiting for him. I was the only person there at the time and was the only person when I left that claims place. He said they gonna replace my whole back end bumper for $430.00 total (including labor). He said...I could pick any shop I want.
He said they would also pay for any car rental bill and any medical bill....in the future.
The back end bumper est. by ALL-State Inc. seem kinda low for part and labor.....don't y'all think?
I means when one of my front corner (little side bumper valence) were damaged and I called Sport City Toyota for a price...and the part came already color-matched. They quoted me $250.00 + plus taxes. In addition, that price didn't include installation. Oh well!
Soon, my Trix will have a new butt! I will probably have to rent a car for about 2-3 days while my Matrix is being repair in the shop...probably by Sport City Toyota or Fowler Toyota dealers. And, I need to make an appointment with a chiropractor or medical doctor soon. All-State Ins. told me that I could go to any doctor, rent from any car rental places, and uses the ALL-State Ins. claim number for billing. So far so good!
Thanks for everyone help!!! It really help me a lots with these messes!!! Later!

I'm glad to hear that Kong. The estimate he gave you does sound a little low, but it is the primary estimate. I'm sure if you take it to your dealership it will cost a lot more than that, and that's why I would use Toyota's service.
I also spoke, today, with a Dallas P.D. officer at work about the report taking, and he advised me that it is not necessary to make a police report. And should you want to, you would actually have to go to a police station to do it. This is because they require your hand-written request, and they would want you to write in your own words what happened.
He also stated that you could make a report over the phone for some other things, but for a minor fender bender, they won’t do it. And they don't even respond to the scene of accident unless someone is badly injured.
