Alex M's System

So Alex what kind of subwoofer are you getting?

We can probably start working on it as soon as I get done with school. I'm planning on redoing a few of my friends systems as soon as summer starts.

A few questions...
1. Do you want it painted or covered with carpet?
2. Plexi or no Plexi?

Shawn....

wassah... wow i didnt notice all these threads... well... I'm only getting a single 10" FUBR from Power Acoustik... I will be powering it with my dinky little Kenwood amp... this means I will be pumping 300watts barely to a speaker that has an RMS of 900.... and peak of 1800... sad sad... but i am broke.

I will be getting the speaker installed next saturday (not this) gotta drive down to Austin, Ill be at the Austin meet, too, so if anyone else is going, tell me!

I just wanted something simple that is discrete actually to provide me ample trunk room. I won't be going for a show trunk since I have to transport luggage a lot. So something i can squish in the corner of the trunk and still look cool.

I was thinkin of placing it behind the fold down seats offset, so that i fold down one seat and its facing out right there and put a couple strobes and i'm good.

I think im gonna just get a regular box... it only needs to be .5cuft in size... and just slap it behind one of my rear fold down seats.

Easier that way... or 1.15 ported.

So you think you got any wood leftover? That we can work with? .5 cu ft is nice and small but it has to be deep enough cuz its a HUGE magnet on the back

Yeah I should have enough wood left over from my last project.

Do you want the speaker to be built into the back of the seat? That way you still have all of the trunk room.

Hey Shawn, when do you think we can get started on this sub thing... I just got the sub in and it looks like it'll fit on the side there where we talked about. Just wanna make something simple, but if we can make it cool for cheap, then sure... I guess Do you already have wood? Might just make a wall and then a box behind it and leave it at that, no need for plexiglass and stuff

I'm still up for making something good. I temporarily made my own box just cuz I got impatient hehe. It's a simple sealed .5 cu ft 3/4 MDF wrapped in vinyl. Its not 100% sealed tho.... there seems to be a leak in the wiring terminal somewhere... so i sealed it as best as I could. Anyways, its just there temporarily.

The sub doesnt hit as hard as i thought it would, but thats cuz it is seriously underpowered... I'm only giving 300 of it's 600RMS so it doesnt hit nearly as hard as my 2 12"s even tho they were only 200RMS each... its kinda dissapointing, but I just need a stronger amp.

BTW, my 2 12"s are for sale to anyone, pretty cheap since I don't need em and you can get em for CHEAP online now.
