Back to Corporate America...and beyond!

I got hired today with HD Vest in Irving. Drake gets to go to daycare, and I get to make money doing something I love. It's a small Help Desk (5-6 techs), and the salary is 30K to start. It's right down the rode from matt's work, so he may change his schedule, so we can carpool.
I interviewed with them on Wednesday, and i thought I'd bombed it. They called today with the official offer.

Hey Congrat's M-
As far as Daycare's go...check out PrimRose off Swisher and Children's
Lighthouse behind the Rave Theater. They're kind of pricey but the
quality of care is good and they don't have serious violations. The wife's
already done her homework on this and would be happy to talk to
to you if you want...

Anna is going to the children's lighthouse. I am not sure for Drake's age, but Anna's tuition is pretty cheap, $130 a week.

Yeah, it gets cheaper the older they get. Less diapers to change and bottles to give = cheaper tuition.

Cool. I'll check those out. The way I've been researching them is by looking at the violations. I rule them out based on what they have and how serious they are to me. I'm looking in Coppell right now, since it's close to mine and Matt's work. But I may need to put him here instead. Alex, is Primrose who you use? I need one that's open late.

Actually, we're trying to get her in there.
She goes to a place really close to he wife's job right now in Denton.
We took a tour of Primrose and we're really impressed
with the cleanliness, teacher to student ratio, attitude of the
teachers, etc...
But like I said earlier, Primrose is one of the pricier daycares in our area
and that's our barrier at this point: price.

I enrolled him one in Coppell. They have three teachers for 9 kids. The price sucks, though. Matt and I are joking that we put him in rich kid daycare.
195/week.

Whoa...$195.00/wk!

Retired grandparents are a blessing in this situation!

Yeah, if it had been the beginning of the summer, I'd have free childcare. But mother in law went back to work last Monday for the school year, and my parents don't live here and they both work!
Alex and Chad can attest that 195 a week is pretty standard. It's only 20 bucks more than the one I looked at here. For Coppell, it's going to be high regardless.
I loved the teacher, when we went to visit, the director held Drake and took us to the baby room. We got him down on the floor where he found all the toys. The teachers talked to him and the other kiddos started playing with him and bringing him toys. It was adorable, and he seemed really content. In fact, he threw a tantrum when we left. I'm feeling really comfortable with this center even though it's only one of two that I looked at. Also, I didn't have a whole lot of time to get him in somewhere. I'm hoping his shots records get there in time for him to start on Monday! Because I HAVE to be at work Monday morning!

HA! Yeah, when he's like 18 months it goes down by like 10 bucks or something lame like that! Drake is LOVING daycare. He's on day 3 and already blossoming. He learned to say "Da" and make other odd noises. He likes his teachers and they seem to be taking care of him very well. When I have picked him up each night, he's been at the table eating a snack or babbling at the teacher while she rocks and feeds another kiddo...
