Akebono ProACT Ceramic pads

I bought a set of these pads today. Anybody have them and like them? I hope they don't eat up the rotors? I hear they produce less dust and less squeak.

On another note, when do I know I need to replace the rotors? The guy at the store said when there is a "lip" or "step" at the edge of the rotor. I know this is true, but how big does the lip need to get before it needs to be replaced? And I'm guessing it the rotor gets to thin it will warp easier, but what else can go wrong if the rotor starts getting to thin?
