Constant brake squealing

About two months ago I needed new brake pads. I got them replaced, and the squealing stopped.

Then the squealing started again after a week and got louder and louder. I took it back to the shop and told them to look at it. Suprise, suprise... they didn't squeal anymore the second it left the shop.

Now, the squealing is starting up again. It's getting louder and louder! PLEASE help me out here... please don't get too technical either, I really don't know much about cars.

Depending on the pads used you could be getting what's called Harmonic Vibrations. I think this is more common with performance brakes but...

Basically, some brake quiet on the back of the pad will help with this. Mine still do it but not very often.

Re: Constant brake squealing

Sounds to me like the "anti-squeel" backing material on the brake pads is either missing or has slid out of position on the back of the pad. This thin "gasket-like" material is there for just that reason. It's normally attached to the pad with adhesive that sometimes fails. When this happens, this backing material slides off the back of the pad and sometimes totally falls off. This will cause the very annoying squeel you hear. Have the pads removed from the caliper and new backing material applied...
