Question about wheels and handling

Ok, here is the question. I have the stock 15's on now and I am pretty satisfied with the suspension I have on the car now.

Would performance be diminished if i went to a 16in or 17in wheel that is LIGHTER than my current 15's?

I am wondering if it's the size or the weight that really effects handling and performance.

Thanks
O

ps if this has been covered before just let me know how to search.

I have read that article before and now that i put things together, if i can find a 16/17in that is lighter than my 15's it will be the best for straight up performance and handling.

Thanks
O

Yes, it's true and it's so worth doing. There are quite a few good wheels out there that are lighter than OEM in either 16 or 17. My SSR's weigh about 2-3 lbs less than OEM in a 16" size and the difference is noticeable in handling especially.
