sr20det and ca smog emissions

ok first off i wanted to say hi. i had a question regaurding sr20det's in s13's. i live in california and to be honest im not quite sure if california smog emissions will agree with it. i've heard that they can pass smog here. if this is true they can pass anywhere due to such strickt emission regulations out here. help me if you can folks! later

damn i cant spell! if they'll pass what gen engine should i be looking for? can you guys gimme the pro's and cons of the obdI and II's. it has to be the same year or newer than the chasis itself correct? im new to the nissan werld

hhahahaha Sounds like you're catching some hell with this thread. From what I have over heard, You can pass the smog tests, but you have to pay a little more. I've been told if you know someone there, they can help out. Good luck with it. I live here in SC, and we don't have Vehicle inspections, so I don't know much about this.

it's unfortunate that smog is as strict as it will ever be here. smog techs are required to log into a database before performing a smog test. it seems to change everything. thanks for the help. i really need to know for sure if it can pass. if it is possible getting it to pass wont be a problem. anyways thanks a bunch. if any1 else has any proof of an sr20 passing lemme know.

next time dont post if you dont know whats going on. people like you screw everthing up in the automotive industry. YES sr20's have egr valves. and as for the hc's that can always be worked with.

geeze take it easy... i live in cali and i promise u... it'll never pass... cops even kno what sr20's are here... they kno 240's dont come turbo. only way to get around smog every 2 years is get real cool with a guy at a smog station and pay him a lil xtra to scan ur paper work but put ur friends 240 on the rollers for the test...

or u can do what i did. put my dash in my friends car and took his door vin off and put mine, he ran my friends car on the rollers thinkin it was mine so it passed, went home n put my dash back in =x

Yeah only way to get it to pass it knowing a shady smog tester and pay him extra. Well the easiest way I should say. You could do what SR20_S13 does.

what part of cali do you live in. if its so cal i can help out a little. i know a guy that just did my car off the record. didnt even need my car. just my paper work. freaken guy put up a hundai tiburon and passed it no problem with all my info on the computer.
