I am in a terrible position, I have a 1995 Nissan 240sx (which is the good part) which I just took to the Shop to fix a water pump and misterious noise and was told the noise was the timing chain and it would cost around 1500 to fix. My delima is that i was wanting to do a swap but just not yet. The KA has over 160,000 miles on it, so would you suggest Doing the SR swap or fix the KA? I was wanting to do the body first but if i do the swap i can't do that for awhile. Opinions please.

Its the timing chain tensioner, 1500 is the mechanics dicking you over get a 2nd opinion, but ka's are known for it. You couold most likely continue to drive it without issue.

The noise really isn't loud is it? It's just more annoying right? More than likely the timing tensioner is screwed. Just open the valve cover and inspect. If you pay 1500 for a problem that easy, you need to give your mechanic a huge kiss. He just f'd you good.

can you try to explain the noise, like the tone. I had the same problem with my KA. the pump was grinding and sent metal into the coolant, and my starter also stuck, slave cylinder gave out, my flywheel got ground, and I threw a rod bearing. SR20 swap, yeah its about time.....
Even the timing chain being complete f'ed doesn't warrant a $1500 repair. Buy the complete timing kit ($150, comes with everything) and DIY. If you don't want to do it yourself, bring in those parts and find the cheapest shop in the area. You should be able to escape for cheap.
Timing chain failure is a sadly common occurance on the KA. Ask any KA24 enthusiast, we've all put our noses to the grindstone. We've all removed the front covers of our iron monkeys and asked ourselves out loud, "What the hell?"
My timing chain guide broke off completely and was making a road trip through timing chain city.
If you do the repair yourself, we're here to guide you through it every step of the way.
