KA24DE vs. SR20DET

i had a question...im close to buying a 1991-1992 240sx coupe....nd i wanted the car to look good before it runs good....
"i want it to look like a s13 silvia K series"

but i dont really want to spend too much money on it... so im asking..

can a KA24DE be good at all? any upgrades to the engine to get it fast?? or watever you do to it....does a stock sr20det beat it no problem? my cousin's friend Erick "an owner of an AE86 with a fc engine swap" says that i should first by a stock 240 then get used to KA24DE stock engine...and get sr20det later....is rebuilding a KA24DE a bad idea?? too weak?

thank you! please reply

Too weak my ass! When you see 240's running around with the 'SR KILLA' FMIC, watch out. The KA24DE is an iron block monster, and when it's built, the sky's the limit for power. Check out the Ivan's PK machine, a stock block KA24 that puts out over 700hp. The SR20DET is an awesome, awesome motor, but don't underestimate the KA24DE. You can get a KA24DE to 300whp for $2,000 if you make the right buys, and that's the price of a stock SR20DET, if you're lucky.

ive seen the ka's built, ive also seen my cams snap in my ka so from personal experience its not a motor i trust, (iron block monster) an alluminium block is better, lighter and strong as hell, the sr stock block can hold massive power

how in the hell do you snap a cam? the only big problem i've seen with KA-T is the possibility of crank failure at extremely high hp. i have to agree with Bri because this guy knows what hes talking bout. and yes you can boost a KA for less money than an SR. around 3k will build my motor and be able to boost the engine. thats around the price you'll get after buying and installing an SR.

what is the difference between the altima ka and the 240 ka? would the fwd ka tranny fit on the sr if you turn the motor to put it in the altima?

don't bump old threads, don't double post, there are a lot of things that are different between the two, and no, it will not fit.

there have been many many threads about this.
you cannot use a fwd ka trans with an sr whether its fwd or rwd.
you cannot use a fwd ka in a 240.
this thread is not gonna be a flame fest.
