CA18DE vs CA18DET Block
I recently purchased a 1989 240sx with a CA18DET already installed.
Unfortunatley the previous owner had a shop replace the clutch and
somehow they managed to strip all 8 flywheel bolts. After the returned it
to him he drove it for a couple of days and during this time 5 of the stripped
bolts backed themselfs out and the remaining 3 sheared off. I posted a
thread on the forum and was told that a CA18DE Crank would work fine
so I managed to get my hands first on a complete CA18DE Engine and
later got just the Crank Shaft out of a CA18DE at the salvage yard.
I am new to Nissans in general but one of the posts I read once said of
the CA18 that it had a Integrated Crank Girdle but neither the CA18DE I
bought or the one at the salvage yard had one. I haven't remove the
CA18DET from the 240 yet so I can't speak to that one.
Can anyone out there tell me what the differences are between the
CA18DE and the CA18DET and if there are differences based on the year
produced. Also is there any way to verify enternally the CA18DET
from the CA18DE. Any help would really be appreciated.
