ka24de to sr20det in a 91 s13

I need to know the main problems that people run into when they change out the ka24de to a sr20det in a 1991 nissan 240sx.

the problem is you might take a risk and the engine might be bad.. research and see if you want to take the risk.

been there done that

Problems you will run into...
Startermotor is different you need jdm starter
the wiring harness is complicated and diagrams are few and far between
parts are not directly compatible with SR20De motors beware (some parts are)
Drive shaft is a little longer w sr20det (maybe just in my case auto to 5spd)
tachometer won't work with cluster from non DOHC engine
Front mount intercooler a must
bigger brakes strongly suggested (don't go if you can't stop)
you need bigger exhaust
won't meet immission standards

But the car will go like stink and you will love it
Money can not be a barrier

Hmmm my tach from my 89 SOHC works with my SR20DET only thing is the damn speedo doesnt

you can wire the SOHC RPM gauge to work with the SR. It takes time and someone who has the SR diagrams to do it but it can be done. Also the Speedo thing may be a bad sensor in the tranny or like mine bad wiring.

If you have the diagrams that would be great!!! I have bought four yes four... clusters from DOHC's even one from a JDM 180sx and none of them work. By the way the "frontmount intercooler as a must" comment is really because I found it alot easier to place the fmic with everything apart IE the front bumper. why not make life easier and do it all at once???
