What is this issue with some of the exhaust not fitting with rear sway bars. Unfortunately, my car is totally torn down, but I looked at the stock sway bars and it looks like it is routed such that the exhaust routes under it. I also looked at the stock exhaust and it looks like with the small dia. piping it just routes straight back under the stock bar.

Is the issue that with most of the aftermarket units being 75 - 80 mm in dia, there is not enough room to route under the bar and provided enough road clearance. Thus, I would assume that the bars are removed to route the exhaust as high as possible. I really need to understand as I need to have a rear sway bar.

TIA,

put in the sway bars first, and have the exhaust custom made to fit.

i'd get a straight-through type muffler and have a muffler shop bend the piping & weld it up. i'd go for large diameter piping for a turbo engine, the biggest that will fit. dynomax makes a great muffler for a great price.

fyi- performance gains from a pricy exhaust are negligible. a muffler shop job SHOULD cost you around $250.

Sorry, but this is totally wrong. If you're going turbo you need the biggest exhaust that'll fit. Three inch is about the max that'll fit without bangin' things like your swaybar and rear I-beams.

Use common sense when putting low restriction exhausts on turbo charged cars, the turbo IS the restriction. Anything past that is just waste, it offers MINIMAL benefit.
This is also incorrect...sorry, not trying to pick on you, but backpressure KILLS turbo's! Backpressure is needed for NA motors not for turbo's. Backpressure works against the turbo making it less efficient and eventually ruining the thrust bearing! Also, going from 2.5" downpipe to 3" downpipe gave significant gains (close to 15whp) on the dyno. I now have a full 3" exhaust...from the turbo back.

Another great investment is extrude honing the exhaust manifold and turbo housing. It's not that expensive and improves throttle response as well as reducing lag. Lag is not much of a factor with the factory T25 but it reduced lag by about 400rpm's on my T3/T04E.

Hope this helps...Jody

That is true. my friend has a custom 4" downpipe and Test Pipe and he gained almost 35 hp on the dyno. And the Single N1 is better for high-end. I picked the N1 because the HP gain is realible. I've heard that some people that have the NurSpec is not as realible as the N1.
