Hi,
You guys got another newbie here, but I joined because you all seem very knowledgable. I was doing some research and I live in California, so for me, passing smog in a 240sx with a sr20 swap was out of the question, and thats when I found that it was possible to swap the sr motor in to a old datsun 510 ('72 or older so I dont have to mess around with smog), I wanted to find out what I would need. Can any one answer a few of those annoying questions I have... sorry... but I was wondering, first, what parts would need to be replaced off or a S13 red or black top engine swap, from say www.flashoptions.com or www.JdmSource.ca/ ? Just the typical things one would want to be safe about, for instance the timing belt and other stuff like that, what else would I need? Also, does anyone know what modifcations are necessary to swap a S13 sr20det into datsun 510, I have been doing some research but have come up empty handed and thought maybe someone here might know the answer. Thanks for your guys help.

first where in Cali are you? As far as what you have to do with the swap, first you have to flip the crossmember, flip the center steering link. the turbo manifold cannot be used, you you will have to fab one. non of the aftermarket s13 ones wont work. There are lot of different ways to mount the SR on the 510, so mock it up and figure out the best way to do it. you can use the stock 510 motor mounts add spacers and it should work, or you can use the stock or nismo motor mounts for the SR and modify the crossmember to make it fit.

Also thank you very much to B11sleeper because flashoptions.com was a definate possibility for me so it is great to know not to trust them. These guys have a drag 510 with an sr20 that is ridiculous..... they sell engine mountin and crossmember kits...

I would strongly consider these if I were you. They'll make your swap easier, which should be a priority if you haven't research the hell outta this swap and have someone close by who's done one before.
