Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I just bought '95 Nissan 240sx with 130K miles on it and an auto tranny. As you can imagine, it's about time to change to a new engine and tranny or to do a swap. But, at this time, I'm kind of on "the budget", if you know what I mean...
So, what is the best motor for the price to put into my 240sx??? How much should I expect to pay for the whole swap with labor????

P.S. I'm in SoCal.

Actually i dont know what you mean. 130k miles on a motor and tranny isnt really saying anything much. Unless there is something seriously wrong with the motor, or you just want to do a swap, there is no reason to replace a motor at 130k miles. If you really want to do a swap a clip will cost you about 2500 and assuming that everything is usable on the engine and swap add in another 1k for unforseen things (nuts bolts, etc etc..) And i think I am being conservative. If you are on a budget try doing the swap yourself, you can find "how to do an SR swap" DVD on ebay.

Nobody wants to work with the KA anymore...
I would say if she runs fine, swap tranny, and then build a turbo kit.

Yeah, build the KA, or save your $ so your not on such a budget anymore so you can afford an SR or CA, RB.. etc etc... and do it up proper and not have to worry about cost so much. Being on a tight budget sucks. Give yourself some breathing room and swap it out in about 6months or so after you built up some cash to give yourself some flexibility as to what you want and how to accomplish it.
