(SR20)Why Do I have 1 black plug and 3 normal plugs? PS it's running a lil' crappy...
Yeah- my car is running a little rough. I check my plugs and my #1 plug is black as night .... just covered in ol' carbon. They're fairly new and then the other three are great. I clean them up and swap em' around and the first one still gets black. What could be the prob? Oh i'm backfiring too... I looked back at my O2 Sensor and the red black and blue wires are all frayed and I can see exposed wires. I haven't thought about it cause everytime someone looks in my engine I point it out and they say it can't be the problem (o2sensor) My MAF sensor is good. I changed it so... any Ideas?
A black shiny wet looking plug is normally caused by burned oil leaking past the piston rings or valve guides then cooking inside the cylinder.
one sure sign is bluish smoke coming out the exhaust.
Could be worn piston, bad rings... etc...
Black and dull looking is a sign of a rich fuel mixture. Bad mixture could of course cause "backfiring" as well..
Sounds like that one cylinder is maybe being misfueled causing pre-detonation or pre-ignition which ever term you prefer, either way it sounds like abnormal combustion in that one cylinder.

Yes It's not shiny... I just need to understand why I have ONLY 1 plug that is black and the others are NORMAL. My car is backfiring and running a little rough.

Stuck injector or bad rings or valve guides. Do a compression check.

Well I checked another thing... I pulled off my injector plug and the engine didn't change rpms and then I tried the 2nd,third and 4th... the engine bogged down on the rest but nothing happened when I pulled the first one...
BTW.... what kind of mods do you have to do when doing the SR20 Swap to the 240sx? AND is it illegal to have the SR20 in your car? If you got pulled over and found out that it's not the right engine...could they take it from you?

Sounds like a dead cylinder, a compression and leakdown check sounds in order now.

and make sure that your injector wiring is good and not frayed, it could be that the electrical is not being grounded good or resited or sumthin thats causin the injector to stay wide open..
