well i have found that the #2 cylinder has a rod knocking and i dont know of a good machine shop to do a rebuild in or around northcarolina so i am going to have a new engine swapped in. i have a s13 red top now(the one in the car with the rod knocking) but i would like to put in a blacktop s13 to replace the current redtop.

my question:

will the ecu and wiring harness from my redtop work with the blacktop and if not what about just using the bottom end from the blacktop and using the head and everything else from the redtop?

i have alot of bolt on mods like:

740cc injectors
full race maninfold
t3/t04e turbo
and a bunch of other mods that probably are not relevent to the question
also the ecu has already been tuned by scott

also i am looking into having the work done by JGY customs in virginia. i talked to them on the phone and they were very nice and willing to help. i would like to know if anyone has done busness with them befor and how it went.

Different wire config on the s13 blacktop ecu plug. If you want to use the same ecu you will need to rewire the plug.

Bottom end option should work fine but there isnt much difference except for age. Pistons are a different part number for some reason...

blacktop motor will work with your harness and ecu, but you need to change the o2 sensor, and possibly the water temp sending unit.

why dont you find a jdm place sellign a short block or somthing theres plently i see now and again on e-bay. strap all your redtop stuff on the bottem end do a nice job n ur good to go
