SR20DET Tuning options?

I am looking into an sr20det for my 240 and i wanna know what different kinds of tuning options i am able to do with it. Is there an ecu that you can buy that allows you to tune the ignition maps, air/fuel ratios, and so forth? Any other tuning options would be greatly appreciated also. Thanks

there are a lot of standalone systems and what not and yes Jim Wolf Technologies will make an ECU, but you have to get it reprogrammed everytime you change anything. I would personally recommend getting a stand alone system which will allow you to customize it better... if you know how to use one.

We offer custom tuned ECU's at Secret Services. we pride ourselves on more knowledge, better customer service and better...dyno proven ECU tunes for S13 SR's. We also do all sorts of other ECU's but your question is focused on S13 SR. our turn around time is 2 days and we include next day air back to you so you can have minimal down time. Standalone systems are nice but they are expensive and complicated to tune. with standalone it is usually much more difficult to get the car to startup and behave properly. it can be done by a trained professional...but that costs extra $ as well. we can get a program in your car that will start right up, run and drive fine with only minimal fine tuning at your local dyno facility. I have tuned everything from stock swap SR's to fully built 550+ whp SR's. yes if you change something significant (injectors) you will need a retune, but small changes wont really effect one of my programs due tot he way that i write them. I have had customers change turbos or add cams or add a greddy intake manifold without needing a re-burn. they just made soem small air fuel adjustments with their S-AFC, and small timing adjustments with the cam angle sensor and they are good to go again!! we include instructions on how to properly wire your Z32 MAF and instructions on how to Properly set the base timing on your SR so that your ignition timing will be where i intended it to be.

Give us a call if you have any other questions...or feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you have any questions: enthalpy@secretservicesinc.com

Thanks,
Scott

I am looking for a setup that will give me about 300whp right now, but i am still at the early stages of researching it. i think a stand-alone system might be nice because i could tune it whenever i want instead of having to send the ECU in all the time.

why would you have to send in the ECU all the time. i can calibrate the ECU to work very well within an intended range of operation. you only need to send it in if you are making MAJOR changes to your setup. i like to tell people changes that result in 20-30 hp gains are fine and my programs will compensate for that but if you start making 40-50 hp changes then it might be time to think about a re-flash. as with our programs the re-flashes are next day return service. customer service is key.

Not really I have built 540 whp SR's with them. Its not any different than a stand alone.

Most people and even most shops who say they can, can't properly tune a standalone anyway.

You're right. Of course, you're one of the best shops to get to program an ECU.
