With all the blood boiling arguments out there about what engine is better and this one sucks because of blah blah blah. Can someone would has expierence with all four engine types turboed (KA,CA,RB,SR) plz explain to me why I should or shouldn't swap that particular engine(with some evidence, not because you like that one better!). As of right now, money is an issue but I am willing to wait for a better engine in the long run (probably daily driver). Potential for the engines would be appreciated along with stock 0-60times and 1/4times. Thx you and I hope we can get all this stuff straightened out.
wish i had the money to be able to have first hand experience with each..

My experience is with the KA, SR, and RB. Not the CA.. *yet. Please note that everything I'm about to type is my opinion.. and not fact. Basically everything to me is slow because my main transportation is easily capable of mid to low 11 seconds in the 1/4 and gets over 40mpg. Anyways with that being said, my experience with the KA is short and sweet. Only drove one once in a hardbody. It was a dog. Nuff said there. You could turbo it, and that is the only way to really get good performance out of it. But depending on how you source stuff and what your budget is, you can swap in a new motor for better reliability and more power for about the same as that turbo kit. My SR experience is mixed. In my old sentra, the power to weight was amazing. Simply put, best time was 13.8 on stock 13" tires with intake, JWT ecu, and exhaust. It put down on the dyno 190hp and 185lb ft of torque. An SR in a 240 is much different story. When I drove it, the only mods to it was a fuel pump and VLSD. It had stock everything. The power delivery was terrible. I thought I would fall asleep before the thing started to get going. The car felt sluggish and heavy. This helped me make the decision to do a weight reduction of 200+lbs on my 240 when my project got started. Now with my RB I still think it is slow. But the power delivery is more on demand. I like the torque curve on it alot better. It's more in your face power that pulls all the way to redline without hinting that the redline is even coming up. It's just too smooth. The bad part about the RB20 is info and support. This is still a swap that alot of people don't do. So info is limited and you will run into alot of confusing times. The cost is cheaper than the ever popular SR, as is the CA but I don't expect that to last long. But yeah.. if I could do it all over again, I would still choose the RB over all of the ones I have experience with.

The RB20 is a pretty good engine, but maintenance may become a problem. Th CA18 is a very good motor, though a bit smallon displacement for the 240. The SR is everyones choice and does pretty well for it's size, but if you have a KA24DE, boost it.

Well I've had nothing but bad luck with SR's, 2 warped blocks, and a host of other problems leave me with a dislike of these engines.....also I hate changeing timeing chains on the damm things......grrrrrrrrrrr
CA's and L's? Much better, rev to the moon, nice and simple to play with, very underrated motors......but very good.....I'm building a 2L twincam ca20 with a supercharger on it for my clubbie (Black93SER, I have some pics and info for you), as for the L's the only motor I've seen finish a whole rally stage with no oil pressure and no coolant and still keep running.....
RB's? Now we are talking! Every car besides one, that I have owned has had one....love them, I'm not a fan of the rb20e,de, det due to the total lack of power down low, but engines like the rb30et and the rb25det are awesome....I even built a supercharged rb30e which flew.....rb30e powered cars do 8's inm australia....torque monstors.....
