I am wiring up my motor, when i came up to a weird problem. 1) when i put the battery + to the battery part of the starter, the starter motor cranks up (without wiring up the ignition/starter wire) 2) the starter cranks up without cranking over the motor... any help will be appreciated

first u need to make sure that ur battery wire and the ignition wire are not touchin...if there not than u most likely have a problem in the soleniod on the starter...2 if the starter is turning but not cranking the motor than ur either have the wrong starter for the application or the drive on the starter itself is broken

i would recomend taking that starter to ur local rebuild shop and have them take a quick look at it that way u no the stater is good or not tjat way ur not ripping it back out a month later

or your battery is dead. the starter will click but wont turn the engine over.

thanks for the replies. the battery is not dead. the starter is cranking but it doesnt seem to be connecting to the flywheel... im pretty sure its the right starter. anyways im bringing it to a starter shop to get looked at...
