I have a S14 Silvia (whole car) and a 240SX convertible (RHD) both with SR20DET's....the problem is as follows with my convertible:
Start engine up with no MAF connected, idles great, runs great, revs to 3k as usual without the MAF connected. At idle I connect the MAF and boom...car runs like shit and dies. Turn engine off, plug in MAF and restart car....same thing, bogs, runs bad, dies....disconnect MAF, start it up, WHALA perfect again. I've tested 5 MAF's (SR20DET) on this engine and same thing with each....I am thinking it may be the ground...anyone had this problem? We think my S14 Silvia is the same way, but we won't take it out on a test drive till tomorrow. Input is appreciated.

Whats the AFM's output voltage on the ECU plug? Sounds like a earthing problem to me mate....
If the voltage goes high, the ECCS computer system goes into full choke mode...well at least it does on RB's... normally I'll grab a pot and apply around 2.4 volts to the inputline.....if it idles fine....wireing fault.....

I don't speak Aussie lol....what's a "pot"...? I'll ground the MAF by splicing into the harness tomorrow to see if it makes a difference...hopefully it does, if not, time to put the RB in and forget about the SR (as it should be).
