Post Engine and labor Cost

Does anyone know the best place to purchase an SR20DET for an S14, and how much I am looking at to pay for labor?

you can get a pretty good engine from www.ardperformance.com and click on JDM engines. Labor should cost no more than $900 IMO. If you are quoted more than that, try somewhere else.

www.highperformanceonline.com Is a good company to deal with too or you could *try* www.boostfactor.com I know the people locally. They have some good engines. Just have to be nice to them and act like you have money from the beginning.

The GTi-R's are the ones that work in the front wheel drive as well as the Bluebirds.

Both of them were all wheel drive if I remember correctly.

The GTi-R and the bluebird Blocks bolt directly onto a US SR20DE tranny (from a 200sx SE-R or a Sentra b13 SE-R or B14 SE-L).

I had my swap done by HeavyThrottle (www.srswap.com), which is also where i bought my car (Jeff was selling his daily driver). I was exceptionally pleased with the work, as well as the prices. He sells his engines complete with stock intercooler and ECU. I paid $2400 for a blacktop. I believe he'll also do price matching. After extensively speaking with him before and during the work I had done, I wouldn't have anybody else touch my car (just my opinion). You can see pictures of thier work, and my car specifically if you go to the site, click on project cars, and mine is project car #2. Good Luck, and highly recommend you call and speak with them before going anywhere I else, I believe they are the most knowledgeable about the SR swap.

What's the difference between the blacktop and the redtop? also, what came with it? I know when you do this kinde sh*t, you have to go and replace everything in the engine bay (power steering, starter, wires, radiator).

also, Did they do the whole swap for you? Where are they located?

He's talking about the RWD S13 chasis (240sx).

Red-Top S13 SR20DET (205hp) 180SX 91-93 and Silvia 91-93
Black-Top S13 SR20DET (205hp) 180SX 94-98
Black-Top S14 SR20DET (220hp) Silvia 95-98
Black-Top S15 SR20DET (250hp) Silvia 99-Current

For the FWD B13 / B14 chasis there are:

Red-Top Bluebird (205hp)
Red-Top GTiR (227)

They did the entire swap for me, here's a list of what I got:
SR20DET
Blitz fmic
Trust 3" downpipe
Spec Star stage 1 clutch (equivalent to ACT)
Walbro high flow fuel pump
Apex'i dual N1 exhaust
Apex'i timer
Apex'i S-AVCR
SVR battery
Autometer 2 1/8 boost and oil pressure guages
TurboXS Type H-34 racing bypass valve
custom hot pipe
custom intake
custom test pipe
Permacool 14" fan

I paid $8k for everything which includes the cost of labor for install. They are located in central NY state.

edit: there is no main difference between the blacktop and redtop, other than the color of the valve cover, both engines have the same specs (power output). It's a really technical and much debated topic as to whether any of the internals are different. The main thing to remember, the blacktop is newer than the redtop. Production of the redtop ceased somewhere around 91, but don't quote me.
