SR20DE vs KA24DE for a swap

My question I feel most closely matches this forum as these cars are the ones that would be a donor for my project.I am considering getting a old Datsun 510(RWD subcompact) and would want to do an engine swap if I did.My question is what is the horsepower of a N/A SR20DE from a S13 or S14?Is it the same 140 hp that it is in the B13/14 and P10? I know the KA24DE has 155hp and the redtop SR20DET has 205,but the DET is expensive compared to the DE and the DE would be an easier swap for a number of reasons.Also , what is the peak torque?Thanks for your help.

Silvias came in different variants.
J's - CA18DE or SR20DE, no electrics
Q's - CA18DE or SR20DE, full electrics
K's - CA18DET or SR20DET, full electrics
180SX - CA18DET or SR20DET, optional electrics
Club - CA18DET or SR20DET, full electrics, other interior upgrades

And to provide an answer to your question;

Cheapest and easiest would most probably be the KA. If you can get an SR20DE at a really good price then go for it. They were 115kw at the flywheel (not sure of the torque but KA would be more)

SR20DE power improves best with a 2 or 2.5" exhaust and HKS stage 1 cams. Intake doesnt really do much at all neither does headers as factory headers are really quite good.
You could also go for quad throttle bodies as they make the SR sound and go awesome!

i would also get the KA24DE since we as a 240sx community are more familiar with these engines, because most of us have the DE or the E's in our cars so we could help you out

plus might as well get the KA24DE since its a truck engine

I like the KA24DE I have in my Frontier already,but also think that fi I used the quad throttle bodies I could make it look like side draft carbs with velocity stacks and K&N filters.Then again, I could also just use side draft carbs on the KA24DE with the L series distributor and do away with the fuel injection and requisite high pressure fuel pump.The other thing the SR has going for it is that it is actualy lighter than the L16 it wil replace and will help keep the 510's perfect 50/50 weight distribution.However, I can get a KA24DE for $99 and the trans for $35 so maybe that's the better way to go unless I can get a complete motor set for the SR for $500 or so.Such a quandry!

Well, I am hoping to find the SR that cheap(I know, good luck!) AS for the KA, there is a u pull it yard (a chain of 3 actually) that sells any engine for $99 and I frequently see 240SX's with KA24DE's and 5 spds there so that's where I'd get the KA from.I have seen SR's reasonably priced on E-BAy and figured the lack of demand for the non turbo RWD SR would possibly keep the price down.I have seen incomplete SR20DET's with transmissions for as little as $1k on E Bay,and I don't need the turbo or manifold(the manifold won't work in a 510 chassis I've been told since the turbo hits the crossmember) so I figured I might be able to get away with it.I figure that If i neeed a custom maniflod, why use a T25 turbo when I can do a T3/T04 hybrid instead?You'll have to pardon me if I get any of this wrong as I am new to 4 cyls and turbos and am still just learning.
