Sr20ve or Sr20det

i want to no which of this motors is better.

the ve is better than the det,you can get the vet it produces 287hp and its an all wheel drive tranny. the parts for the ve are hard to come by if you ever need one so in my opinion go with the sr20det

VE engines can use the same parts as an SR20DE.....
but the VET is much more expensive and hard to find.

Most people think it would be better to Turbo charge an VE.. thinking it'll pack out more power...

but getting an SR20DE and putting in a turbo with all the accessories and extra's would be a hell of alot cheaper than an VE.

The main differences between VE and DE engines.....
are *basically* compression ratio's and the VVL (variable valve and lift) which you can swap around into an DE.
Also VE engines are designed for AWD or FWD concepts.... so putting it into a RWD situation would be a bit tougher and would involve custom fabrication...

but since your talking about an SR20DET or an SR20VET .. go for an SR20DET, cheaper.. better parts.. less work...

I thought I read somewhere off of the se-r.net forum that you could not swap the ve head & de head? I'm guessing thats what would be swapped in favor of the vvl. If I'm way off here, please correct me!!

I know anything is possible, but what modifications would need to be done to swap the rwd tranny onto a ve motor?

well i am not 100% sure on this...
but you would need a new driveshaft, trany mounts to bolt up the transmission.. a calibrated tachometer and speedometer, according to the transmission... (and from what I have read on the SR20DE forums... swap the head from an DE to an VE) new oil feeds..
