the SR20 was designed to be a turbo motor in japan, so when it came over to the states in a naturaly aspirated form it was a very strong motor. Thats why you can get so much turbo power with out having to change the internals.
I've driven SR20 cars and KA24 cars and the KA motor sucks its not that powerful and dosn't respond to mods as well.
When a grisly killing spree in Vancouver left 15 women dead, PETA tried to purchase full-page ads in local papers suggesting that this carnage was no worse than the killing of animals for food.
KA24DE has .4 and will cost u 0 to get, yes because u already got it WOOHOOOO wut a deal all u need is a turbo kit... then people say but it cost the same amount.... sure it does but u pump more hp cuz of the better turbo kit u got then the stock sr20. torque is pretty good with the KA24de then it would be with the sr20det althouhg it has more u forget that the sr20det is already turbocharged while the KA is still N/A
so lets just see here.... u spend u got 10k, u gotta wasit that 10k first to buy ur engine then install (if ur not doin it urself) then u got the rest for mods
with ka u buy turbo kit pay for labor if ur not doin it once again then the rest for mods
in the end if both a SR20DET and KA24DE(T) were fully modded the ka would infact win why .4 displacement more
"there is no replacement for displacement"
this is IMO the way to go
this post has already been in the 240sx forums go to S13 in the 240sx section and look down u will see it it was started by urs truely

a KA w/just the turbo kit will run about the same times as a S13 SR20DET powered 240SX. the KA may have an extra .4L (which isn't a whole lot to go ape over, anyways), but the SR has A LOT better top-end speed than the KA. while the KA does have the low to mid-range advantage over the SR, if you're highway racing or what not, the SR will eventually pull on the KA.
there is ALWAYS a replacement for displacement when you're comparing engines that are so close in displacement.
well ur might be right but then again i'm guessing ur implying they both got the same turbo kit, i would buy a bigger and better one as i guess anyone else would which woulnd't give the ame times
most people who turbo their KAs usually go with one of the turbo kits that are currently out for it, and those use a T3/T4 hybrid turbo, which is a good enough size turbo.
Well i dont exactly know how much hp a person could get for $1500 with the sr swap (assuming $2500 to get the engine into the car) but Nsport has a turbo kit for the KA which will put 240hp to the ground.
Here is a list of the other forums i lurk on and gather information hopefully this will help you, oh and one suggestion for you and anyone else please search on these forums first, some of them are pretty brutal when it comes to engine comparison threads because they have been done to death. 240sx ForumsNico Zilvia Fresh Alloy
The ka is not set up internally for a turbo. Yeah it will produce good hp with the kit but not for long. Unless you go through the very costly rebuild.
The only things internally that are better for turbo in a SR vs a KA is that the SR has lower compression and the piston coolers. Both have forged cranks and rods and a main cap girdle,so the KA is plenty strong for a turbo!

I found out prices on the SR20DET swap and the cheepest I found was $3500 installed. I was wondering if any of you guys knew where to get a custom manifold for my 89 240sx so I can compare and see which one would come out cheaper.
