buddy, any car will turn off if you pull the negative terminal off the battery. you have a lighting electrical problem. your alternator will have nothing to do with that, check the fuses first then the next step is check if there is power going to the light bulb itself (it is possible that all your bulbs burn out at the same time). if your getting power to the bulb then the bulb is out. if there is no power going to the bulbs back trace to the power source. you might have an open circuit or a short to ground. do a wiggle test on the body wiring harness and see if that makes any sudden changes. you never know. a squirel could of chewed up you wires.
