SR20DET conversion

I'm new to this site and i'm interested in dropping in a SR20DET into a `96 240sx. Will i have to modify the engine at all to make it SMOG legal or in compliance with any other rules?

you won't pass smog, no matter what. You live in the city that Heavy Throttle is in, go talk to them.

The SR20DET is illegal, let me repeat, ILLLLLLLLLLEGAL. It was never made here, NORE was the RWD SR20DE, so don't think that "hey the sentra has an SR20DE, I can just say it's a swap with a bolt on turbo kit." Won't work. The only way you're going to get that thing to pass is either find someone who will develop temporary blindness and allow you to fuck around with your car while you are on the sniffer, or just find someone who will register it, no questions asked. It FOR SURE will not pass visual, and it more than likely will not pass the sniffer, especially if you have a BOV and upgraded it at all.

More like, don't get caught with it by a cop that knows what hes looking at, which is not inclusive of a large percentage of cops. If you are outside of Southern California, actually, LA County, then you are probably pretty safe, unless you have a 3' wing, and your car is painted bright green/yellow/red.

Well, seeing as how I don't live there, I think you have a 98.24521% chance of not getting caught. Is that an acceptable answer, because if not, I can try again...
