I am looking to buy a cold air intake, i have found a few. i was wanting some of your expert info from you guys and 1 more question, do you have to relocate the battery to install a cold air intake??? Any info wold be great.
when i installed a HotShot CAI on my SE, I only had to cut a small piece off of the battery tray to accomodate the CAI. i dont know if its the same for other CAI's out there....
I don't have a 240sx but me and my friends all have put cold air intakes into our cars and have not had to relocate our bateries. As long as you buy an intake for your car you should not have to relocate anything in your engine compartment.

I recommend PlaceRacing for CAI's i had one in my maxima and know others that have them. I will soon be purchasing one for my B14 check out the site PlaceRacing the site is under construction so click on the link to request a catalog they will send you one.
I say THE PLACE RACING COLD AIR because it comes with the short ram with a extention for cold air so if you live in an area that rains alot, you could be able to take the extention out so your filter can't soak up water and use it as a short ram. JUST MY OPINION! & u do have to cut a bigger hole in the fender.
I just DIY-ed my own CAI on the Sentra, it's using a rubber hose and a 75degree piping elbow... Working fine as an aftermarket... Cheap too.... The piping costed around ten and the elbow was only 90 cents

i'd like to have a picture of that, see if i can hook one up for my budget 200sx project.

if your budget is a lil bit higher, you can also get exhaust pipe and that will be really close to a real aftermarket cold air intake! since I'm a 15 year old unemployed, i only have a K&N cone filter mounted on the MAF, but I'm saving for the pipes to make my own CAI!

I am running a PR CAI, there is some cutting, kinda a PAI to install but i have had no problems with water. The battery tray i had to cutt off the corner and some sheet metal in the floor below the battery tray. You dont have to relocate the battery, but i would say it would be worth it. I still havent.
thanks for all of your inputs, one more ?? does anyone have an opinion on the INJEN CAI??? i can get it for a decent price, but I have not priced the PLACE RACING yet.
Once again thanks for your input and opinion

While it sounds pretty good, you are probably down on power with a filter directly on the MAF due to turbulence. For close mounting a filter to the MAF get a Place Racing POP charger which has a machined aluminum venturi adaptor for the filter to reduce turbulence.

Injen has come up with their quality as it is one of the better applications out there. I have a Place Racing CAI for my ride and it's great. You can't go wrong with either or. ALSO, if you get a Place Racing CAI, make sure you tell them you want a K&N filter and not a Monsterflow.
