DE vs VE turbo

ok i had a lil discussion/argument with AJRACER... he is claiming that the SR20DE-T outperforms a SR20VE-T

my opinion says not but here is the conversation of what we talked about for im not a guru at this.

feel free to comment on this etc.
--------------------------
AjRaCeR805: DET's own
TMSRAC1NG: no
TMSRAC1NG: VET own
TMSRAC1NG: all
AjRaCeR805: stock for stock yea
TMSRAC1NG: yes
AjRaCeR805: but when modded, a DET owns
TMSRAC1NG: no
AjRaCeR805: yea
TMSRAC1NG: VET will murder DET
AjRaCeR805: ok
AjRaCeR805: tell me this
AjRaCeR805: whats the highest HP VET u know of?
TMSRAC1NG: do u know the highest VET know of
AjRaCeR805: i dont know
AjRaCeR805: what is it?
TMSRAC1NG: it on the sr20 forums
AjRaCeR805: but how much power is it making to the wheels?
TMSRAC1NG: SR20VE 187.4 hp @ 7000 rpm 144.6 ft-lb @ 6000 rpm
TMSRAC1NG: SR20DE 140.0 hp @ 6400 rpm 132.0 ft-lb @ 4800 rpm
TMSRAC1NG: brb
AjRaCeR805: stock
TMSRAC1NG: but turbo
TMSRAC1NG: VE will def outperform
TMSRAC1NG: the DE
AjRaCeR805: i know of 600whp DET's
AjRaCeR805: never heard of a VET
AjRaCeR805: tell me
TMSRAC1NG: VE are rare
TMSRAC1NG: that why it hard to hear of them
TMSRAC1NG: but im sure they can do over 600 HP
AjRaCeR805: i dunno
TMSRAC1NG: i believe it can
AjRaCeR805: no one has tried it
AjRaCeR805: no one knows the real potential of it
TMSRAC1NG: i know someone did it
TMSRAC1NG: but he just started
TMSRAC1NG: he on the sr20 boards
TMSRAC1NG: forgot his name
AjRaCeR805: it might be a worse car do boost than a GA
TMSRAC1NG: albert
TMSRAC1NG: ur thinkin crazy
AjRaCeR805: nah, everyone brags about the VE
AjRaCeR805: sure its good
AjRaCeR805: stock
AjRaCeR805: but turbo, who knows?
TMSRAC1NG: even modded
TMSRAC1NG: it good
AjRaCeR805: well, yea
AjRaCeR805: but for how long?
AjRaCeR805: the sr20de is proven
TMSRAC1NG: ask that on the sr20 forums
TMSRAC1NG: see what ur answer is
AjRaCeR805: heh
TMSRAC1NG: cuz im not a major guru
TMSRAC1NG: i jes believe it it outperforms the de stock
TMSRAC1NG: it should outperform
AjRaCeR805: it does
TMSRAC1NG: the de in
AjRaCeR805: stock
AjRaCeR805: but no one leaves it stock
TMSRAC1NG: yes
TMSRAC1NG: no one leave VE stock either
AjRaCeR805: well no one leaves any engine stock
AjRaCeR805: not even a GA16i!
TMSRAC1NG: but if the VE outperforms the DE stock the a modded VE should outperform the DE modded or turbo.
AjRaCeR805: not necessarily
AjRaCeR805: its a higher compression engine
TMSRAC1NG: that is my statement
AjRaCeR805: those dont take well to boost
TMSRAC1NG: well yea u can always change the compression
TMSRAC1NG: but i dont want to argue with stuff
AjRaCeR805: ha
TMSRAC1NG: that im not really understand all
TMSRAC1NG: so imma bring this to the boards.
AjRaCeR805: hahaha
TMSRAC1NG: =)
AjRaCeR805: dont put it on nissanforums
AjRaCeR805: those guys dont know anything
AjRaCeR805: do it on sr20forum
AjRaCeR805: those guys know about the sr
----------------------------------------------------

enjoy!

the VET has 276 hp IIRC... not sure about a DET but i know its not even close to it... (stock comparo)

The only thing is no one really knows how much a VET is capable of putting out. It just hasent been attempted yet!

VET>DET>VE>DE

Thats what i heard. But getting a true VET is almost impossable. But im sure you get get, lets say a VE and just boost it your self. Then a det wont even beable to touch it.

AJ needs to be updated a little. The SR20VET does exist, delivery 276 bhp. That power in itself owns all the DETs in a stock to stock comparison.

Here is a link to Bubba Zinetti's site, where he talks of the X-Trail, the only known vehicle with the SR20VET:

http://68.39.105.160/veseries/xtrail.html

Home page URL:

http://www.gonzonx.com

You can thank me later after owning him.

stock per stock does not mean jack shit.....who leaves their car stock? as far as i know a 600whp DET will own a 276hp VET(since higher boost hasnt been attemped?)

Dude, when you start adding variables like that, no one will be able to give you a definite answer, especially when no one has experience with the VET. Look at that site, read that info, and come to your own conclusions. I cannot and will not argue this mod-for-mod type of stuff, because simply put, there is just not much information out there for such an argument.

look, my argument is that up to this date.....the DET owns....maybe in due time when ppl experiment with the VET, the VET will own, i dont know, no one really knows, who knows how much boost the VE is capable of? just like no one really knows how much power a GA can really have in its FULL potential. just cuz the VE is a newer engine, does not mean its the best thing.....look at the QR25 sure it makes more power stock, but it will not boost and create as much power as the SR

i know the VET exist, i meant to say ive never heard of a VET pushing 600whp, so for liu or anyone to say a VET will own a DET is complete and utter BS

Give me $100,000 dollars and I will make it push 600whp!!! . Well I am sure nissan engineeris are lazy and probably didn't do too much changing around on the VE and the DE. Except for the VVL. I'm sure turboing would have better applications on the VE as well. Don't quote me on this. It's allll about they physics....

ok, hands down aj is right

TO DATE, the det owns. Keywords being TO DATE, and thats only because no one has pushed 600hp with a vet (that we know of)

if someone tried, could they...i dont know. id say that there is a good chance, but no one can say until someone tries and tells the world about it...

but as of right now, 2/5/04 and in the near future, the det owns when compared to the vet's that we know of right now

You guys just don't even know what you're talking about. One of you use your heads before trying to argue this mod-for-mod topic.

For one moment, sit back, and think a little. You can push big numbers in any 4-banger if you got the cash. If there is a 1,000 hp Ecotec motor out, why can't you expect a 600 hp SR20VET motor? This DET vs. VET topic or whatever the hell it is simply cannot be argued. It's a waste of time to even talk of this. Any motor can own another. Really, what's the point of this argument? Again, THINK.

sure u can do anything with money im sure with even more money, a DET can push over 600hp, there are a couple of 700HP SR's out there. Harris, if u knew anything about economics, ud know that money is not a resource.

I am majoring in Economics (graduating in May), and I don't think you need to challenge my intellect. I am closing this thread because there is no point to it. This thread will only get worse if it continues any further. If you have a problem with it, take it up with the other moderators.
