Ted....I have to comment about what you said about the QR25DE.
the internals for the 2.5 are NOT robust. the connecting rods are like pencils, and the stroke is entirely too long.......................it's NOT that great in stock form boosted......can take max of 260-270whp before snappin a rod.
As for the swap. if you were to keep your stock tranny and bolt it on to a JDM engine, it might not line up with the tranny mount. Also, you'll need a B13 full harness, and either run the JDM ecu or a JWT unit.

you'll run into the same problems with the sr20 as you will with the qr25. most engine's can only handle so much without breaking you know...

yeah, so if both engines can handle about 300 hp, why not just stay with the qr25 and forgo all the hasle's of doing a swap. just get your qr25 to an engine shop, where your engine can be built to handle as much hp as you want or the engine's limit...
i am still in the process of a retro swap now...i've got an 88 sentra and put an sr20 in...lol, let's just say it's been fun, reeeeeeal fun(:l).
Here is my take on the QR25DE engine, as I know a bit about how engines are being used not only in the North American region, but in some parts of the world as well.
The QR25DE is regarded as a "performance" motor only in the USA. In the rest of the world, these engines are regularly used in trucks and vans. I can prove this, so if you need proof, I'll be glad to provide you with such documentation. It really is a truck motor, because frankly, thats exactly what it was designed for.
The SR20DE(T), as we all know, was made to take abuse and was made quite well, a property that the QR25DE lacks. The SR20DE is so stout, it has made 409 whp with the stock bottom end (and 539 whp on the SR20DET). The QR needs work to get to that kind of number safely, as per my observations with many of the turbocharged QRs that I have read about.
I could go on and on, but ultimately my point is this: you can't reject the robustness of the SR20DE(T). You will never regret having that motor in your engine bay.

well I think this is still a heated debate.
between the sr20,and qr25. two totally diffrent animals.
and the sr20 is bulletproof compared to the qr25 . and I if I'm not mistaken the sr stock bottom end can take more than 300hp....

thing is.....the sr20 can handle far more than 300hp on stock internals.......and this has been well documented....so your argument is pretty much nil.
that, and up to this point, the Qr25 hasn't had a sparkling reliability record either

if you say so...i wasn't too sure anyways b/c i've only heard about it. do you happen to know how much can the sr20 handlecan actually handle on stock internals?

i've heard alot of trash about the qr25 too, but it seems to be a pretty sweet engine and drivetrain setup so far. my brother has an 04 spec-v, black, 6-spd, skyline inspired bucket seats, the details in this car are phenominal, it likes to go fast...alot...lol...lets just say there's nothing but good times and fun in that car!
as far as your swap goes, i hope you have a lot of money if your going to try this. it probobly won't be very cheap or easy to find a way to adapt the qr25's transmission up to the sr20. let alone being able to make sure everything is aligned properly.
if your set on an sr20, i'd think your best bet is to get an sr20 and transmission and drop that in your b15. that or sell your b15 with the qr25 and buy a b13/14/15 with an sr20 in it. yes, they did make factory b15's with sr20's. however, they were only in the lower models...hmmm...
im sure, that if you sold your b15, if you havn't trashed it, you could buy a nice b13/14 w/ low miles for around 5 grand. and maybe have enough left over to slap a big friggin turbo on the s.0.b.
do what you want though, cuzz when it comes down to it, it's your time, your car, and your money.

the skyline inspired bucket seats are just recovered versions of those in other sentras..........at least the 02-03 spec v seats were, lol.
believe me, I know a bit more about the swap than you. As it is, I've got a QG18DE in teh car now, and the tranny should bolt right up to the SR20, which it shares clutch units with. The QR tranny itself will not bolt up to an sr20.
As for the cost...well, after the rod bearing spun, I had the option to go SR20 and boost, and, well........its a better option to me.
You can bolt a QR trans up to the SR with the Primera bellhousing or check this out www.sr20specv6speed.nissanpower.com
The SR20DE can handle over 300whp stock, but it's transmission can't.
From a discussion we had at sr20forum.com, I came to the understanding that the QR tranny will not work on the earlier chassis cars, like the B14s and the B13s. This had to do with issues with the tranny and crossmember fighting for space I believe. Also, using a QR tranny would mean converting to a hydraulic clutch system (B14 and B13 cars have a cable operated system). Therefore, a better idea for the B13 and B14 owners would be to buy the PAR gearset being offered for sale by JGY Customs (http://www.jgycustoms.com).

actually, the SR20 can the B15 SR20 is something like 25% stronger than previous SR20 trannies...(I think that's the number) and I know classic owners with just clutch upgrades taht are running over 300 at the wheels daily.

There are plenty of SR20's here in southern california that produce well over 400 Bhp on a stock bottom end. Issues with the trani start developing at 250 hp; however, there are many still using stock tranis at the 350+ whp levels... although its just a matter of time.
