Ok so i just bought a 93 SER with 153k on it , tranny seemed fine except for 5th gear pop out . everything else seemd fine. The car dies on me that day of buying it , i find out its the altinator , yay fun and prolly expected. blah. anyways, im driving it home and it keeps cutting off because of the altinator i suspect but I now cant shift into other gears, and im wondering why, then when i try to start it startes to go, the clutch does nothing anymore, and the cable does not seem to be snaped, because i experienced that problem b4 in my 89. This is pisses me off I just bought the car and i want to drive it and not put it in the shop, and its to damn cold to fix it myself. I paid 1500$ for it and its a damn good car i just want to get this stuff fixed on it.. pLEEEAAASSE help me..
thanks
JOsh

Hey Josh, sorry I don't have any answers for you, but just saying welcome to the world of the se-r. I, too, have ventured and bought a se-r a few months ago and only got it running a month ago. There are a few problem I'm experiencing right now, too. Again, Sorry I don't have the answer to your questions. Have you tried sr20forums?

sounds like one of two things...either its the throw out bearing is shot or the fingers on the pressure plate have been screwed up and won't spring back. just my .02.
I can't believe you alternator lasted until 153k. most barley make it past 100.
well actually I had it tested and nothing is wrong with the alternator. it was the battery ground , it was almost SEVERED!!!! so i fixed that and that solved alot, although i still have a shitty idle so i did some trouble shooting and then adjusted the idle and timed the car, itll start up with a nice clean idle when the engine is cold, get the engine wamred up and itll idle at 300-500rpm which SUX.. even with the adjustment. i bought a new clutch cable for a 1.6 liter as i was told its a better fit anyways for the SER. so I put it on which btw was a utter pain in the ass, my b12 clutch cable could be changed in 5 mins, SER clutch cable try 4 hours. they have this stupid ass system of putting metal plates around everything, its rather GAY. so i adjusted it and drove it to work this morning, what to you F*in know !! the gears starts sticking
and not shifting. so i leave it , it drives ok from work around bout on break, so then i get off work car is doing ok , i get about 2 miles down the road, then it alll goes to hell, the clutch stopped working completly , so i pulled over in the middle of rush hour traffic and proceeded to check the clutch cable to see if it was still connnected properly
and yes it was! so I trid adjusting the clutch even tighter, as tight as it could go. so i proceeded to drive it while having to synchro shift gears all the way home with no clutch.. now i have to drop about a grand to get the drivetrain in order.. any suggestions on where to buy the parts?

im gonna go with a f'ed over throw out bearing on this one, if u know your se-r well it should only take u 45 minutes to drop the tranny. roughly 5 17 mm bolts connecting tranny to the block, 2 14 mm for starter another 17 mm on the back side of the engine right above the passenger axel shaft which btw will slide right out if u disconnect from the hub and the 3.... i think 14 mm bolts on that odd looking bracket bolted to the block. and then theres this weird engine mount bracket dealy which is like 2 more bolts to the tranny and then the shift linkage bolt and im pretty sure thats it.
takes me 45 mins out and roughly a hour and 10 minutes back in on the groudn with hand tools and dont forget to support your engine aswell because this prcedure only leaves u with one engine mount holding it up
