Question Service Engine Soon Light

Have a 2001 Nissan Sentra SE 2.0L engine
It has 41,000 miles and suddenly has the Service Engine Soon Light on.

Coolant is good, oil has been changed.

Any ideas??

I was thinking 02 sensor but not sure if anyone else has common experience with this...

Is it:
-idling fine? (no jumping, stalling, etc)
-acceleratinng linearly (no bucking, abrubtness)?
-have a clean air filter?

If it really does seem fine, undo the neg(-) battery terminal overnight.
That will reset whatever code yo may have tripped in the ECU.
If it returns, go to a dealer/shop with an OBDII scanner and pull the code to see what's wrong.

Hope this helps (from my experiences),
Kevin

they do that all the time, its time for your first big oil, spark plug, air filter, and oil filter change. Do that, and then see if it goes away, if not then just do that and have the dealer reset it, it comes on at certain mileages to remind you to do service. THe o2 sensor on a new car is good till 80k

I have a 96 and the light came on...
I knew there wasn't anything wrong with it...I looked on the site for how to reset it, followed the steps and never had it come on again.
The stealer wanted several hundred dollars to do it...5 mins and the cost of a single sheet of printer paper plus the minimal cost of ink to print and I was fine.
These check engine lights are a scam.
I have over 150,000 miles and have only replaced the batt, clutch, and alt. These cars are built to last.

I just had that light come on this weekend. It hit 43,000 on the nose and damn light came on. I disconnected the battery for a day but the light didn't go off.
