Hmm

96 SE-R VS 91

I think I have to agree with what harris has been saying from the start..

This week we ran again..

This time, the only thing done to my car was adjusting the front end and an injector service.

The results out of 8 runs.

4 runs I drove his 96 and 4 runs I drove my 91.

This time the 91 SE-R was out front of the 96 all 8 runs and by a half car length to a full car length.

My 91 has 216,000 mi on it now and his only 70k. Still My 91 proved to be faster from 0-80.

It would seem that the 91 is indeed a "BIT" faster stock VS stock than the 96.
Compare the miles.

the 91 tranny has the LSD in it so I think thats your better 0-80..
the 91 has top port injectors, and the 96 has low ports i think.?.
but i think that shouldn't affect anything.. right??

All SE-Rs from 91-98 had VLSD. That has nothing to do with why the 91 outran the 96.

High-port or low-port head also does not make that big of a difference, although I should say the more agressive cams on the 91 must have helped, but ever so slightly.

The real reason, again, is weight here.

I ran against 2 lo-port B14s and beat both with my lo-port '94 B13. Infact, those cars had a LOT more mods than mine. In the end, the only difference that seemed to be the likeliest of all reasons for me coming ahead against them was weight, nothing else. I have also come out ahead of a high-port B13 NX, but I guess driver skill was the reason why I came out ahead 3 out of the 3 times we raced.

Good kill H8, I knew one day or the other you would have come out ahead of your buddy's '96.

Thanks for the correction. I had a feeling I was wrong. Change the 98 to 97 .

hmm

I haven't really seen any credible stats for a 91 SE-R. I have seen several different websites claiming the 96 does 0-60 in 7.1 and the 1/4 in about 15-something. If that is the case, Why does my 91 outrun stock VS stock a 96 from 0-80? It would seem that for the 91 the ratings are less than accurate. I know my 91 pulls away from the 96 out on the highway say from an 80 mph start so here we are back to the hmmmmmm.

I guess it may be time to take it to a track and get a slip. That way I have something to start from. I am going to try and convince my buddy to take his car along with mine sometime in the near future.

I really H8(HATE-LOL) to do the Nissan VS Nissan thing because we should be talking about the Hondas we see in our rear views. Anyway, I find this to be all in good fun. Maybe I just got a GOOD 91.
