can't match belt sizes? that's strange, i would think there would be belts for any length or application...

if so, you might as well put the power-steering back on... just disconnect it and let it freewheel... (no pumping action)... sure, the inertial mass is still there, but at least it won't be dragging as much.

thanx for the help , i was wondering if maybe i can stick the pump back on(not working) and attach a unorthodox pulley instead of the heavy stock.

well

You could always use a nylon tape measure and see what the length is minus the other two pulleys. I am sure there is a belt close enough to use with the tensioner. Just follow the belt pattern minus the pulley(s) and see what the new length is.

Good luck

Did they ever make an SE-R that didn't have PS or A/C? If so that'd be the belt you'd need, I think you might need to swap the WP pulley out to a different one. Search at www.SR20DEforum.com this has been dealt with several times by guys over there.

All SE-R came with PS, but I dunno about a/c. Aside from weight, does the a/c take any power at all when it's off?

Yes, just turning an extra pulley takes some HP. I don't know how much though. I think people do it mainly for the weight.

i did it mainly for the dead wieght, cause when i bought the car years ago the a/c was damaged and i took off the p/s beacause i wanted the engine room plus the control is much more precise.
