Distributer question.

I bought a JDM motor and I'm in the middle of the swap. The JDM came w/ a different style distributer and the wire harness will not connect to it. So i'm going to use the old one. My question is do I just pull the old one and put it on the new one? What do I have to do to make this one be timed properly? I've pulled the old one and put it on the other block along w/ the coil because the JDM didn't have that either. Nothing is close to being started yet so I have yet to screw something up.

well the wiring harness is a wiring harness and that's all it is. it's not going to determine timing. you need to set the timing when the engine is running with a timing gun....adjusting the distributer cap and such with the correct degrees like 15...
