Exclamation sr20de problems

i have a 95 200sx se-r with 109k and have been having problems with the common sputtering problems. i am real good with cars but i wanted to take it to my shop to plug the computer up and it came up the MAF was bad. They said it might be other problems and i might as well buy tune up parts for 100 bucks to see if its the problem rather than 500 on a new MAF, so i went to the local car parts store to buy some parts(wires, plugs, rotor, cap). The cap and rotor that were on the car were less than 6 months old and had deposites already. Nothing happened when i replaced these parts so i took it to nissan. They said they've never seen this before which i find hard to believe but also they said the parts that i just replaced were garbage and that the cap and rotor were bad again. They put on new wires, plugs, cap, and rotor and now it runs decent from 1k to like 4.5k but than it cops out and backfires and sputters. If i get it up to 6.5k very slowly, than there is no hesitation at all. PLEASE HELP. I'm going insane.

Hmm... mine was doing something similar to that. Only it was doing it all the time. I had the cap and tps sensor changed. It didnt help. I changed my plug wires. Didnt help. I'm not sure what the deal is, but plugs 2 and 3 have oil on them (NOT GOOD). I'm thinking the oil on the plugs means blown rings?

try checking your fuel filter and pump... mine did that at first... okay till 4k then pop-p-pop... replaced the fuel filter and she runs sweet as roses now.

Could definitely be the fuel filter being clogged. I have a stock MAF from my 96 if you want to buy it. As for the oil on the spark plugs, one likely cause is the spark plug well O-rings for the valve cover. Well, I guess that's only if the oil is coming from the top of the spark plugs.

if there's oil on the plug, couldn't that be a bad ring/rings? Which could be low compression? Maybe you should do a compression test and see what you get, this may be the problem causing your sputtering. Hopefully I'm wrong.

is the engine just running lean? won't let you rev past 2500? i had the same problem when my maf sensor switch came loose.. now im not being patronizing but just check the actual connector, maybe ur spring clip fell off.
i've never heard of an sr20 maf sensor going.. seeing how its basically just a heated wire.

Yeah mine is doing the same thing right now! Starts hesitating at 1600rpm, then starts doing it bad between 2k and 2500. After that it's fine. Once in a while the car cuts off when I'm at a stand still. This doesn't happen all the time. Thought maybe it was water in the gas tank. I just changed the fuel filter about 6 or 7 months ago. I'm going to change it again, because my problems started after I used a different gas station.

You got (or NISSAN) the wrong rotor or cap !!
Re-check the part #s.
