Question Check Engine light on for a day

A few weeks ago my check engine light came on my '98 Sentra SE (65000k). It stayed on all that day and performance sucked. The next morning it went out and hasn't shown again.

Any ideas?

Yea....it was an engine-related problem, thats why the check engine light. You probably must have done something the engine didn't like. Guesswork at this point is as good as trying to buy a 20 oz. bottle of soda with a penny.

Does the ECU keep a log? There's a code with the light off?

Well anyway, it was stumbling and had major hestitation
under 3000-3500rpm. Above that it was fine.

Now the light and the stumbling has gone away.

I initially thought it was the O2 sensor but then the
light and stumbling went away. I didn't touch the
engine just before the problem nor during the day it
happened.

It's bone stock with the original plugs, wires, exhaust,
everything except the tires. Just past 65000K.
