SR20VE is Nissans vvl (variable valve and lift) engine, like honda's ivtec. The SR20VET is the turbo version, which is intstalled as an option in the X-Trail. There are few places to get them and I would suggest going to the SR20DE Forum and checking out the SR20VE board, read the sticky and learn about this awesome engine.

Actually they have the ve not the vet for $1900. Not sure on the price but the vet costs a lot more and is a lot harder to come by.

As far as I know no one has an actual VET, there is a guy who made his VE into a turbo, though.

not all sr20ve are 1,900, it depends on what kind of sr20ve.. there is 6 different types of sr20ve so they sell different prices, the one with 1,900 dollars is weakest of all sr20ve.. im gonna get GTi-R sr20det because it has more 40 hp than sr20ve and if sr20vet can fit sentra se-r, hell yeah i will get it but since its not FWD so forget it.. it has 271 hp in stock, sweet!!!!!!!! but still thanks everybody for telling me what sr20ve is, i learned a lot from you guys.. i appericate it, peace out

All the different VE engines:

SR16VE - 173hp @ 7800rpm / 119lb torque @ 7200rpm
SR16VE N1 - 197hp @ 7800rpm / 134lb torque @ 7600rpm
SR20VE - 187hp @ 7000rpm / 145lb torque @ 6000rpm
SR20VET - 276hp @ 6400rpm / 228lb torque @ 3200rpm

Origin of motors
SR16VE - 1.6L VVL motor found in the Nissan Sunny Lucino VZ-R, Sunny GT and Pulsar VZ-R.
SR16VE N1 - 1.6L VVL motor found in the Nissan Pulsar VZ-R N1 and Pulsar VZ-R N1 SSS.
SR20VE - 2.0L VVL motor found in the Nissan Primera (Infiniti G20 bodystyle), Bluebird, Wingroad, and Autobacs Garaiya.
SR20VET - 2.0L turbocharged VVL motor found in the Nissan X-Trail SUV, and Trailrunner Concept Car.

Damn, except for the VET I never noticed how weak the torque ratings are, it is definitely a clone of VTEC. Personally, I would stick w/ the sr20det to have the nice even hp/torque curve.

i agree with zeno, im going for sr20det too.. but of course, sr20vet is sweet but...... too much trouble to find it and too much money and etc..... because nissan emailed me said they only made 500 of sr20ve so that will be more expensive than sr20de so sr20det would be better to worry about than sr20vet since you can find more parts and cheaper for sr20det

So much bad info in this thread I dont know where to start. Really only 2 sr20ve's. The 187hp one listed above and then the 20V that has about 200hp. They made many more then 500 sr20ve's. The 500 that you describe is the N1. They made two batch's of N1's equaling 500 units. All N1's where sr16ve's. The sr20vet will fit in the Senta or any other fwd sr20 car. The issue is getting one. The sr20vet has very mild tuning. It has a ton of potential. The sr20ve's have excellent tq rating for its size. It does not loose any tq to the sr20de.

Edit: Edited the N1 info down to 500 total.

Well if there is so much 'bad info' then educate us. Yes you are correct that there really is only 2 ve motors that are available but that does not mean the possibility isn't out there to hunt down the others. What other incorrect info. is there?

I cleared up the bad info in my previous post.
1) only 2 sr20ve's of any real importance
2) Many more then 500 sr20ve's were made
3) The sr20vet will fit the fwd sr20de cars
4) The sr20vet is not a torqueless engine. It is simple tuned very mildely
