2000 Nissan Sentra 2.0L SE

I have a 2000 Sentra 2.0L SE. Not an SE-R, just a regular SE. The engine is an SR20 engine. Not an SR20DE. The engine stamp just says SR20. It is also an automatic. I know auto's aren't that cool, but I am really trying to use what I have. So enough of the background crap, here is my question. I am wanting to do an engine swap to a faster engine. What are my possible options for this? Maybe an SR20DET or the SE-R engine?

The SR20 that you have in your car is, more or less, the same that is in all B13 and B14 SE-Rs. Which has a lot of potential. You could swap a BBDET or if you are one of these all motor people, the SR20VE is becoming much easier to find. But with the car only being 3 years old you could always turbo your existing SR20. Greg Perry turboed his B13 with 150K miles and from what my buddy sam tells me, it should be knee deep in the 12's this weekend. Just make sure you dont pay too much and do LOTS of searching.

That's a great little engine... with plenty of upgrades available... don't waste it by taking it out for something else.

Like everyone said, your engine is the SR20DE. If the engine runs well and has decent miles on it, I'd consider turboing it. You ought to be able to pick up a T25 and manifold cheap enough, try to get one with the ball bearing center section. Most OEM turbo Nissans came with autos coupled to them. Otherwise you could just do the typical bolt ons, maybe cams.

Any ideas on other things to do for more power? I already have a Jet Chip in it. Air intake, Nology plug wires and plugs. That is about it.

Do the other NA stuff, like header and exhaust, advance your timing to 17-19 degrees, highport intake cam or just put some JWT cams in. What the hell is a jet chip? You'd probably be better of with a G20 ECU. Maybe do the Unorthodox Racing 2 Pulley set.

Also you can try to block off you EGR valve. It can give you gains of 2-5 hp. Im in the process of figuring it out now. I will update you if you want.

I've heard that blocking the EGR does nothing performance wise since it isn't used at WOT, it primarily opens between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm.

That's my understanding as well, you've nothing to gain by getting rid of EGR.

Mine was taken off the car before I bought it. I cant tell any difference. Ive got one of the slower SE-Rs around here. Not that there are a lot.

Well first thing you do is remove the JET ship and put it back to stock or upgrade to a JWT ECU. JET chips suck for the SR20's. It has been track proven, dyno proven and waste of money proven that the JET chip is a piece o'shit for our engines.

I hope you did not pay a pretty penny or two for it. It was not worth any of the cash you put into it.

I have the same car you do , mine's Granite . This forum , as well as the B15 one is full of people who don't know their ass from their elbow . The SR20DE motor you have in your car is one of the best motors Nissan ever produced . You want a " faster " motor ? Just for your information , the " SE-R " motor you are talking about is also the SR20DE motor . Given that you have an automatic transmission , you'll need to bulk it up . www.levelten.com This company does automatic transmission upgrades . If you decide to turbo your SR20DE , try contacting www.forcedinductionracing.com , for info on their Stage I ( 190 whp ) turbo kit . After 190 whp , you will need to bulk up your tranny . I suggest you join www.sr20deforum.com & www.B15sentra.net , for better , accurate , useful information . Good luck .
