94 xe to an se-r

I have an xe and I'm very serious on doing an se-r swap very soon. Could someone tell me the difficulties that i may run into. Could you tell me all the parts I would need off the se-r. I plan to upgrade the brakes also to se-r.Would the gauge cluster from the se-r fit my car.

You need the engine, transmission, driveshafts, ECU, ECU bracket & screws, the rear crossmember motor mount, be sure to get the cluster from a '93-'94 and make sure the tranny speedo pinion is for an electric speedo as well. I think you need to replace a few radiator hoses and that's about it. Some people say the PS system is different but I'm not so sure about that. The steering rack may be different but the pump and hoses I think are the same. I don't know if you need different spindles for the front brakes or not, but obviously you need the rotors and calipers. To do the rears it's easier to just get them with the trailing arms on them. You also need to get the e-brake cables, and it'd be smart to use the correct master cylinder as well (although it seems nobody ever does). In short it's a lot of work and unless you buy can find a donor car cheap, it won't be cheap. You're probably going to be better off just buying an SE-R in the first place. I contemplated and researched the same swap for my '93 XE for about a year. But, that's for you to figure out on your own. If you really want to do it, you're going to need other transportation while you do it, and you need to start looking for a cheap donor car. Also get a Factory Service Manual, that will be indispensible in helping you figure out what smaller parts need to swap and what doesn't. It'd help to get the same year SE-R as your XE in regards to using a Factory Service Manual, since wiring colors and things like that change from year to year.

I'm doing this swap. I'm almost ready, but still hunting for a few things. You'll need to buy a lot of parts than most people would say. I mean, LOTS of LOTS of small things.

So far, I have (you need)

Engine (98)
Tranny with LSD (97)
ECU (98 and 97)
Complete Harness (98)
Air Intake (PR CAI)
Flywheel (JUN)
Cutch PP (JWT) Clutch Disc T/O bearing, clips (B15)
Alternater
MAF
Power Steering lines
AC low pressure line
Inst. Cluster (99 SE-Limited)
Flywheel bolts
Passenger Side Motor Mount
AC Condensor Bracket w/ bolts
AC Compressor bracket w/bolts
Starter (99 G20)
H$ 5th Gen header
UR Pulleys
Vehicle Speed Sensor
Crankshaft Position Sensor
Flywheel bolts (can't use GA bolts)
Engine mounting bolts (can't use GA bolts)
Radiator hoses

I still need:

Half Shafts
Lots of missing bolts
ICM
Pulley belts for UR
Throttle cable
Clutch cable
A/C high pressure line
and, I'd have to say etc......

I'd just buy an SE-R unless you can get these parts for cheap, or you really love your car.
I've been doing parts hunting for almost a year (for this SR swap). I've been finding excellent deals, but it takes long time.

Good luck.

like everyone else has said, just search for an se-r and buy it. it will be so much easier than trying to do this swap.

the swap isn't that hard, but getting everything ready takes time. make sure you do everything while the motor is out. this makes it MUCH MUCH easier. then put the motor, trans, axles, harness and crossmember in as ONE PIECE.
