Exclamation starter motor -i feel like an idiot!!

I was all psyched to go out and change the starter motor in my 92 se-r, figuring that it would be a normal bolt on, bolt off kind of deal. Everything else that I have worked on or fixed has been a synch so I wasn’t worried. I got the car on ramps and spotted the starter immediately and couldn’t for the like of me fit the damn socket wrench around the other side of the starter to get the 2 bolts! I finally gave up and whacked it with the hammer and it works more often now, but maybe one of you guys can help me out, Thanks!!

It sounds like you should go over to Sears and invest in a set of metric combination wrenches...

you will have to go at it from both the top and bottom. Removal of some intake piping may be neccisary.

Oh! I was thinking that but wasn’t sure if I could still get to it with the removal of the intake hose. Will I be able to get the bolt that is right next to the engine block then?

Yeah, take the MAF to TB hose out and you can get both bolts out. Remove the wiring from the starter first though, it's a bitch to do when the starter is loose. The starter shouldn't fall out, but just in case put an old chair cushion underneath to break the fall. Then again you're replacing the starter so who cares if it falls out. Also try to buy the mitsubishi instead of the hitachi, it doesn't suffer from the squeals.
