I received a 93 nx2000 from my soon to be mother in law. I want to start getting it into shape but i have a few questions. it has 86,000 miles and I opting to do a re-build on it with seals and bearings, timing, and a new cam and oil pump. Is it too early for all that being the mileage is not hard mileage? would you guys go straight to adding bolt on performance mods and re-build later? Just thought i would throw it at you to see what you might do. Without doing a rebuild i could save a pretty penny for bolt ons. let me know what you think.
if it was me, if it's not broke don't fix it. by the sound of it the car has no engine troubles. many-a-nissan have lived well past 150k miles and more.
in short, my advice, bolt ons.

I can see where you are coming from on this. Being that this is my first non american v8 sports car, where is the best place to start then, cold air intake, headers, etc? thanks for the info.
www.se-r.net is where to start, also www.sr20deforum.com There are sr20's out there past 250k still running good. a JDM sr20 is only around 500 anyways, usually cheaper then a complete rebuild.

Also, I would think rebuilding an sr20 might be more difficult. The bearings have extremely tight clearences, something most domestic people arnt used to.
I guess it is a little different then your dime a dozen chevy 350's. I had a panic attack when i opened the hood and thought about tackeling the task of a re-build. I've been shopping around lately and found a ton of aftermarket bolt ons that would do me good. Thanks guys.
