be very careful with your A/C line. if the line is old it may burst and go up in flames...freon is very flammable. check your lines and hoses to make sure they're in good shape.
it depends on when the car was manufactured and depends on the manufacturer itself. you can't be sure that the "freon" that was used was that of the non toxic type CFC-12 or R-12. especially because a lot of these cars are from the early 90s. but since yours is a 2000, nevermind my earlier post. anyways...just be careful. i learned the hard way.
I believe it's the oil in the A/C system used to lubricate the A/C pump internally that is flammable. Take it from me, when the A/C line gets a hole in it and starts spaying the contents of the A/C system onto the manifold, it will catch fire. Happened to me on a road course one day. A tiny pin hole had opened up on the back of the A/C line 1/2 an inch from the manifold caused by the heat. Opened the hood and the whole front of the motor was on fire. Blew it out while I was still wearing my helmet, andit kept re-flashing. I thought I was going to watch my car burn to the ground. Threw some dirt on it and it went out.
Bottom line, wrap that hose or it might catch fire!!

freon, r-134a, and a/c oil are all nonflammable. if you had a fire as a result of a/c leak, then you had the wrong refrigerant. you can buy fake refrigerant for a lot less than the real deal. the fake stuff is usually propane or some other simple hydrocarbon. it works as a refrigerant but is obviously flammable and dangerous. its really a downright shady thing to go and do, but some shops will do it.
The only place that serviced my A/C was a Nissan delaer here in SoCal, but I have no idea what they used. I know of another turboed SR20 here in SoCal that caught fire after their A/C line popped, too.

of course it'll burn if heated high enough...almost anything will. my car taken for a test drive right after the swap was done. after 2 minutes it was up in flames. i don't think whatever it was that caught on fire got up to an EXTREMELY high temperature that fast.
