Question Mid muffler replacement

On my '91 SE-R which still has the stock exhaust, I want to replace the mid muffler (which is leaking) with a Cherry Bomb. Is the diameter 1 3/4" in and out? Any other suggestions? I don't want to go to a complete cat-back at this time. Thanks.

if budget is an issue, you can always just save a couple weeks and get a pace setter cat back pretty cheap, then save again and pick up a better muffler to replace the shit one thats included with the kit. But to be honest, by time you finish putting band-aids on the exhaust(if one part is rusted through, the rest will soon follow), you could have replcaed the entire thing the right way. Take it from somebody whose already did the band-aid approach.

What I did & I should receive them tomorrow are 2 glasspacks - a 1 3/4" Dynomax 17" long & a 2" Smithy's 22" long. I have a slight hole in the reasonator which might be an inspection issue - due on 5/6 . I should be able to do a fairly good job with one of them. In the summer i'd do a complete cat back but I don't have time to do it now. Regards, Fred

To any that need help on this subject:
1.cut the old reasonator off - just after the weld, leaving as much original exhaust pipe as possible. The piping is S/S so that should last darn near forever
2. purchase the 17" glasspack, 1 3/4"
3. go to Pep Boys and get 2 adapters, 1 7/8" ID - they are 1.99 each and are about 4" long
4. use a pipe expander to enlarge the 1 7/8" opening enough just to be able to put them over the ends of the glasspack. Hammer them on as far as they go just to before the actual muffler part of the glasspack
5. Insert the glasspack in the tailpipe end of the cut exhaust first - it appears just slightly larger than the side by the converter
6. Have a buddy pull back slightly on the muffler tip and insert the other end of the glasspack onto the converter side
7. Put 2 1 7/8" clamps on and you are ready to run.

I don't know how easily a stock muffler attaches to the Courtesy B-Pipe (I'm running a Stillen), but I wouldn't rule out getting that part. It's one heck of a peice, and is a cync to install. I had mine done in under 30 minutes (with a lift bay of course.)

Courtesy B-Pipe

The flange that connects to the muffler broke on my pipe on a cross country trip from D.C. to Kansas (17.5 hours in one day) and I ordered the Courtesy part. It was at my door in 3 days. Cost was about $215? Well worth the money IMHO.

I saw that article previously and it's probably the unit I'll go with when it comes time to replace the muffler. I've noticed my muffler has a couple of rust spots coming through. What is the tone of the Stillen muffler

The Stillen muffler is quite loud, but I've gotten used to it. I never really noticed it until I have people in my car (which is rare) and feel bad they have to put up with it.

However, it is no where near the "weed-whaker" or "coffee-can" sound I hear a lot of Honda's make. I had the muffler before I had the B-Pipe and it has always made (to me) a very nice deep throaty sound, especially for a 4-Cylinder. In short, I love it.

My favorite part, is setting car alarms off, because of the bass this thing puts out. lol
