You must swap transmission along with engine.

Can anyone estimate how much it would cost to buy a SR20 w/ tranny and ECU and then switch it with the ga16 in my car?

it depends, theres some places where you can get a really good deal on the engine w/tranny. what ive notices is that they range from $600-$2,000.

search. there is a lot more to it than just the motor and tranny. but it is still a reasonable swap, $$ wise.

I dont know but 3800 seems too high. You might as well buy a used car with the SR20 (for less) if you can find one. OR you could buy a wrecked car with a SR20 and just rebuild it (as long as the frame isn't bent)

Engine, tranny, ecu, wire harness, motor mount, driveshafts (mind you without a core), any components not found on the SR20 engine that you need and won't swap from the GA, reducing radiator hoses. $3800 sounds high, but isn't that far off from what I figured when I was considering doing the same swap into a B13. You can nickle and dime your way up there, because while the engine is out, you're going to want to replace belts, seals, water pump, etc. things that will bite you in the ass later if you don't do them while it's easy. You're also going to want to put a flywheel and clutch in if those are future mods you planned on doing, as well as any tranny mods, like shot peening, cyro treating and welding the case. Motor mounts or inserts wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Crossmember?? I didn't need the crossmember...and Jason you got ripped off buddy. It would probably be easier to try to find a U.S. spec sr20de. It will bolt right into place, you will have to change two mounts. You'll need sr20de long block with tranny, air intake and air box, ECU, wiring harness, and axles.Don't use the 1.6 air box, I tried that and I had no bottom end. That's about it, you can even stay with the 1.6 gauge cluster. Give Chris a call @ sr20devlopment.com, tell him U.S. Josh sent you. He got me my complete swap for $1,900.00 and that was with rebuilt axles. You'll be glad you did it. It's like your car wakes up and turns into a monster
