Question OBX and Arospeed headers?

I have a 96 200sx se-r and am looking to buy headers for my car. I want to remain C.A.R.B. exempt. I know Hotshot makes the best header but to my knowledge it is not C.A.R.B. exempt. I am looking at possibly buying the obx or arospeed header. Does anyone know whether or not they are any good?

Get the hotshot or get the Pacesetter, there are a few that have had experience with the obx but not any good stories that I have heard.

to buy the pacesetter go to www.summitracing.com

Bad news, none of the headers for SR20DE are CARB exempt. I believe you live in cali. I bought ceramic coated header from Pacesetter and they fit fine. But ,when you SMOG registration comes up, either you take the new header off (which I had to do) and replace it with old header, because you will not pass the visual inspection. Or "know" a SMOG tech that will waive your visual (which I'm planning to find). Good Luck in your search.

Sounds like SR20speed will become an expert in installing and removing SR20 headers.

Not at all. The sr20 and ga16 headers are very different. I assume your looking at pacesetter, they don't make an sr20de header. Get a hotshot header.

What monkey wrench told you that.

They do to make a header for the SR20DE. It will cost around $160 shipped from www.nopi.com and/or several other dealers. It has a crappy black shipping paint that burns off, is built somewhat crappy, but looks decent and performs incredible for the price.

Well worth the $160.

I have two right now. One that is around 6+ years old and a newer one that is about 1 year old.

The part number is Pacesetter # 70-1284 for '91-'94 Nissan Sentra SE-R. It will fit ALL US spec'd SR20DE's from '91-'99 including NX2000, 200SX SE-R, Sentra SE, Infiniti G20, etc..

If you have no AIV because you removed it or you have a 94 or newer SR20DE, you will need to order and AIV exhaust taper plug to plug off the AIV bung on the header. You can get that at the local Nissan dealer for around $8-$10 (Nissan # 14052-21R00.)

Oh and I believe the Arospeed header is only for the GA16DE, not the SR20DE. So that one is off your list as well.

Currently available:
HotShot
Pacesetter
AEBS (If they ever release the damn thing)
Stillen

That is it.

There is also the S&S, right? I have never seen one, but I do believe that they exist. Supposedly better than pacesetter but crappier than a Hotshot

Yes. S&S do make a SR20DE header. $275 painted, $405 ceramic coated. From what I've been reading, they've done no changes to it since the SR20DE Header test a few years ago. Check here...
I'm getting an S&S in a couple months just to try it out and see how good it is compared to Hotshot and Pacesetter.
