I know this isn't the reason most people do an engine swap, but I am curious if anyone can answer this question: What kind of fuel economy does a stock SR16VE,SR16VE N1 or a SR20VE with a 5 speed get? I'm curious because I drive alot(45k a year)and fuel economy plays heavily into my plans for my "new" 95 Sentra. The GA16DE/auto is a good engine, but hardly exciting and I might consider changing it in the future if it won't turn it into a gas hog. Thanks for any input you might be able to give me.(I'd especially like to know what the factory says this engine does in it's original application)

I got about 35mpg with my GA16, I got about 23-28mpg with my DE, and I get abou t 23-28mpg with my VE. So there you have it you can expect about the same mpg with a VE as with a DE.
2.0 and that is in this cold weather with lots of short trips doing mostly city driving. I also do not drive it easy all the time. Just can't stay out of the throttle. My car is very well tuned.
Thanks for the information.I had hoped that this was the case, since the high lift lobes are not always employed. I now would be curious to find out if the SR16VE is the same fuel economy wise as a GA16DE.If so,this would be the route I would choose since I already have a really fast RWD car,and am just looking to build a economical fun daily driver.I also drive extremely hard and never take my foot out of it, so high revs are important too.
