SR20 Oil filter options (97)

I have an SR20 and a VQ35, and when buying Oil filters noticed they are the same diameter but different heights.
SR20 listed a 6607, about 2.5 inches high
VQ35 listed a 7317, about 3.5 inches high.
Same construction according to the box, both have anti-drain back valves.
Checked the threads, both are 1.5 mm pitch, assume 20mm dia on both.

Has anybody tried using the bigger filter, will it physically fit 97 SR20.

As long as the base gasket seal is the same diameter, I'd go with the larger 7317 because it has more filtering capcity.

Nissan part # 6Fxxx vs. 9E000? They both screw on. Not sure what the diff is, but I've never seen problems from using the wrong one.

That was my thought, if it fits use the larger one, will give it a try. usually have the Oil changed in a shop so I guess I will do the next one.

All went well, no leakage, engine noticeably quieter after the Oil change.
