I recently moved to PA & took my 98 Nissan Sentra SE to a new mechanic for its state inspection. He told me it gave a PO325 and a PO105 and that the MAP sensor needed to be replaced. He quoted $352 just for the part. I have a few questions:
A) I found one online for $148, but somebody told me I could get one from a junkyard for ten bucks. Someone else told me I could get a MSD universal 30 psi for $45. Is this all accurate info? Which way should I go?
B) If I got the part and had access to standard tools, how hard would it be for me to DIY?
C) If my car gave 2 codes, why are they disregarding the PO325 (knock sensor)?
Get the part from the junkyard and do it yourself its a very easy install. On the knock sensor, maybe they somehow unpluged it while looking around. Or maybe they dont want to replace it(it is a real PITA).

I know this is probably going to make me sound like a big idiot... but I have no idea if the cruise control is working. I didn't have cruise control on my previous sentra, and I just never bothered to use it when I got this one. (They always make me feel like I'm not really driving.) I can certainly find a highway and check it. Do you think there a likely correlation between my codes and the cruise control?? Thanks!!
Not really...because the MAP sensor is actually a boost controller that works with the cruise. Its located in the engine bad against the firewall. It looks like a little black box on the drivers side of the car. You know it's that for sure if your cruise isn't working. I found this out about 3 months ago. I went to a junk yard and got one out of a old 97 b14 sentra for like 8 bucks or so. Swapped them out with basic tools. And all is well now. If you need an actually picture to see what it is let me know and I can get you one.
As for the knock sensor, that's a different sensor. That's something that basically keeps you motor from blowing do to rod knock. I would change that and also check your timing. If you don't have the knowledge to do this or the tools. I would recommend you have someone that could take care of it.
I have the diagostic manual and a list of all the sentra and sx200s with compatible MAP sensors, so I'm hoping my junkyard route won't be too bad. And that once it's fixed, the knock sensor code will miraculously disappear!
Thanks for passing on the info about the cruise control & your DIY experience -- it's helpful.

Hey Annikka
I also had the p-1-5 code with another code. I replaced the map sensor with one from ebay-and it solved both codes--
toward the end of this thread is a list of codes it was displaying
