It has come to my attention that u can buy a bluebird with less than 60k for around 1800 before shipping i was just wondering what all is really different between the bluebird and the sr20de Besides the obvious turbo. I mean wiring tranny ext... I have a 93 G20 and i havnt seen one or heard of one with a turbo around where i live. I know the obvious Crap like getting a front mount intercooler and new intercooler piping maybe even a new intake manifold probibly an exhaust manifold but would there really be too much else to change for this swap?
The only reason i dont want to throw just a turbo kit on is my sr20 has 183k on it and i think it would be a better deal to lower my milage a bit...or a lot. Also i think it would be easier to upgrade the turbo on a bluebird when im ready to do so instead of getting a cheap turbo kit for now and getting another upgraded turbo later.
a couple of the differences is that the bb has 8:5 compression the de has 9:5 comp, bb has piston oil squirters, and off course the turbo, if i left anything else out anyone care to fill in......
So basically swap the tranny, maybe get a new vacuum, find out what the F**k oil piston squirters are than i should be set? Is it really that simple? Has to be labor intensive or something the shops that i checked out are asking too much if thats it, I might have to give this one a shot for 1250$ for the engine/tranny sounds kind of worth it to me.
go to G20.net plenty of info there. but basically, to "convert" a de to de+t, you need the det manifold(there are differences), turbo, intercooler, water and oil lines, new injectors depending on how much hp you want, and a few other small things.
Im pretty set on doing a swap its safer and less BS to deal with i was just wondering if the swap was practical. Im sure converting would just cause more problems. Thanks for the link it helps!
