can anyone identify this part?

Hi all,
I am building my first SR20DE. To make things more difficult, it is an engine that I received completely disassembled, and literally in cardboard boxes. I found this cooling system part, that I cannot find any mention of in the factory shop manual. Anyonw know what it's called, and where it goes? Note: the cylinder head was completely disassembled when I got it, I am guessing it goes in there somewhere. The bottom of this part is sealed. The top portion, where the rubber seals are, telescopes up about 1/4" TIA

Band piston servo assembly... which is part of the transmission... is it an automatic?

***** Thanks for the reply. No, I found out today that it has nothing to do with an SR20DE. It was a Mercedes heater control valve part, that was inadvertently tossed into my box of parts. I tried to delete this entire thread, but could not. Thanks, guys!
